Its not a very big one, its more of an update.
Well, i got landed with a pretty old pc. What is asked of the pc is that its half decent speed (wont crash does ebay, digi camera, a family PC basically). Also a bit of a gaming touch (nothing to extreme) just so it 'RUNS' top range games(ie on low spec or something).
SO, the original pc as it stands cost's 80 pounds and with that we got,
17inch CRT monitor
Keyboard
Mouse
PC
- and to be fair its a half decent PC for 80quid. Its a made up Compaq PC so its not that good, but half decent =
AMD Athlon K-7
CD-Rom
Floppy
10gb Western Digital
194mb SDRAM (PC100)(Max 384 3x128mb)
AGP 2x (dont know what GFX)
But it dosent cover the job so im gonna update it. (160 budget)
So Far what ive gotten for an update is:
DVD+-RW =25
40gb HDD =20
ATi Radeon 9600xt (AGP 8x) =40
Subtotal
=85
So, I need a new motherboard if im wanting to run that Radeon so ive decided to get:
Albatron KM400T Pro Socket A Motherboard = 24
AMD Athlon XP 2200+ w/Heatsink + fan = 35
or
AMD Athlon XP 1700+ = 27
Kingston 512mb DDR400 (2x256mb) = 24
Subtotal
=75/84
Total Cost
=160/169
Well, if i get this upgrade then the PC should be bearable :) and in total it wont have cost more than 250quid.
What do ya reckon?
