Sad to inform that I don't enjoy it much upon first listen. As a matter of fact, I think it's pretty bad.

I really enjoy this group, so this is bit of a disappointment for me.

To describe in short, the self titled album sounds way too experimental and fails to pass the proverbial acid test. It sounds like an album of b-side tracks. There is very little to remember.

The best song off the album "Plenty of Girls in the Sea" which is basically a ripoff of "Yellow Submarine" by The Beatles.

Other noteworthy songs: "Alien Days", "Cool Song No. 2", and "Introspection"

"Your Life is a Lie" would have been a great music video for the MTV golden age, otherwise the song by itself is more annoying than enjoyable.

I still highly recommend MGMT's second album 'Congratulations'. I think it's a pretty ingenious album, though critics would disagree.

He don't need no music sheets,
but with a snip-snip-snippy-snip
gave his mop a chop,
Old man hairstyles are a flop.

You're not the only one who didn't enjoy it. I saw their "trailer" for the new album, which was generally interesting but a bit cringe-worthy to be honest. It reminded me of the result when you combine too little talent with too many drugs and too much emphasis on Burning Man.

It's not bad (but in my heart I know it's just... shite).

I actually like most of the album. Again, its not accessible as oracular spectacular and I think self titling there album is a little bit of a message to the fans.

A good sadness, Alien Days, Your life is a lie and Cool song no. 2 (crazy video below) are highlights for me. apparently they did try to make more poppy tracks but the hated them and maybe they wouldve sounded crap if they forced themselves that way.

Was intersting reading the pitchfork article about the worries of there sony contract cause the congratulations didnt do so well but they have no intention of cutting the contract short becuase of this. the music industry seems to be going full circle again where bands are going back to the big companies. nine inch nails being another (that album was more a let down).

Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.
