well if london gets a lot of money poured into it, its simply cos it is the capital. its the intenational focus of the country. what happen in london effects the whole country. it is important that london is strengthened to keep its key impact in the international world.
i want the olympics here cos it will be a great festival of sport for the whole country to embrase. lets face it would you rather see paris get the bid over london?? it was only 7 years ago they held the world cup, i think we are more deserving of games.

Its a real shame Bush is winding down the US rail system, I heard he is putting money into keeping Airlines in business (the most polluting form of transport in the world!). Our rail system certainly isn't the best, but other countries in Europe are jealous because 1 billion jouneys are made by train in the UK every year for the last two years :P.
Some links for your son:

sneaker: No, I certainly wouldn't like the frogs getting another major event!
It would be nice to feel the whole country is being involved in the Olympics bid - why couldn't the judges be shown round the whole of the UK? I remember way back in 1996 when the European Championships were held here, the whole country felt involved in it, if the same can be applied to the Olympics in 2012 then great, I will support it. But I am still unconvinced.

hey Sneak, the 'kit' (wink wink) we bought in camden town was harvested the other day, things grew fast, almost like, like, uhm, mushrooms!
How was it getting through customs? Any suggestions for those too poor to fly overseas? I assume your narcotically-challenged country doesn't approve of grow kits. I'd love to grow some here in Canada, but I'm pretty sure its frowned upon, to say the least. (God, every single day it seems there's another record pot bust here in Manitoba.)
You can probably buy a grow kit through the mail up there...
We kind of just walked through customs, because what I thought was in the kit was a perfectly legal type of deal, but actually it wasn't.... I didn't open them til I got home, and I was like, oh fuck, I almost pulled a 'Midnight Express'.... took some last night, they were not nearly as strong as advertised, the Amazonian strain.... my buddy has two others I brought back from him, Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian, gotta see how those are.

:? magic mushrooms!!!!??? what they do is some kind of drug?
For the most part they are considered a "soft drug" (natural and unadulterated and unprocessed - other examples of soft drugs would be marijuana or peyote) Basically when eaten, or depending on how much you ingest, they make you hallucinate.
The best explanation of mushrooms, their chemistry, effects and personal experiences I've seen is here:

:D Aww, thanks for those links! When my son is done watching Attack of the Clones for the 56,879,438th time I'll be sure he checks out the links. Not that I keep track of how many times he watches the Star Wars movies, but sometimes it feels like we're on our multi-millionth viewing!
It is true Bush has stepped up to bail out the airline industry, even though they adhere to certain government expectations they are still private enterprises. Corporations first!!
Actually, as far as the airline industry goes, he's proposed a bill that would cease control tower activity during certain hours on the day and night. It's said that to operate towers during the wee hours when there's less air traffic has become too costly. I think such a move to cease operations during certain hours of the day would be totally irresponsible. Not only would this mean lost jobs and more unemployment as well as compromising the safety of cargo pilots, red eye pilots and their crews and passengers - this could present an open window for potential terror attacks via air. Safety should be first and foremost, and it should not be compromised!!! Hello? Wasn't New York City attacked by air on September 11, 2003??

I'll definetly have to search my legal library for some answers..... That would make for a very good summer.
