Jeanie, I **LOVE** that Chile set! :)

I must say I'd prefer a live album from the PTB tour, the current set hasn't really grabbed me in the same way yet (although I've only seen it at Glasto so far and that had a mediocre crowd).

Did glasto seriously have a mediocre crowd? I thought most people there, including Tom and Ed thought it was probably their best gig to date.

Anyway I'm kind of in agreement that it should be a best of set rather than this years one. I'm not convinced by the whole of this years set. It just doesn't seem to have a real beginning, middle and end feel as others have had and I really can't get my head round the No Path to Follow/Galvanize intro.

I still think the Out of Control/Don't Fight it Feel bit is possibly the best live only track they've ever done though. It would have to be on any live album. I bet its on this upcoming live EP.

A live album would be amazing, I'd definitely get 1, especially since the gig at Glastonbury (24-6-07 22:45-01:00). (Yeah, I have that remembered...)

The best live songs at that gig were Get Yourself High, Hey Boy Hey Girl (Every time I hear that song now, I get goosebumps, especially when I re-watch it on youtube). Star Guitar, The Golden Path, Under the Influence and Believe.

I also think they've perfected their light show, I re-watched all the Chemical Brothers gigs I could from previous years, and nothing compares to the 07 tour in my opinion. So it's a big shame theres no DVD. :(

It would be nice if they did. To be honest the Singles DVD rather pissed me off with the "live footage" edited the way it was. Im a huge fan of the Underworld "Everything Everything" DVD though i love CB's more then UW (though both my band mate and our booking agent are the opposite, making for a common battle on this topic). I dont think many bands can top Everything Everything as a live DVD though. It takes a special band like Underworld to say, heres our live set, heres the memories, heres us right now and we arent scared, because tomorrow we will be more. We will be different and this is looking back. Consume and enjoy.

I think thats the difference. Chemical Brothers definitely should release a live DVD. They have the capital, the market and the AV talent to make it really blast off the screens, but i think they are holding back. It odd to say "we wont do this because our set should be seen in the now" when this very website asks for people to tag their youtube footage for common aggregation.

I hope they do one anyway, and i hope its a full concise single set, without excessive post production or infuriatingly quick perspective editing. I hope it has lasers and goes pew pew pew when you open the box. And the box is robots. And stuff.

"Did glasto seriously have a mediocre crowd?"

Christ, yes! OK, so I wasn't right at the front (due to being with people who insisted on seeing Pendulum first) but I was still well forward of the mixing tower and so not somewhere right at the back.

People were just standing there like statues, not exactly going for it. But that's Glastonbury crowds at the main stages for you nowadays - it's been like this since the superfence went up. The pyramid stage is even worse, you get rows of people in deckchairs at the front, setting themselves up for the day.

I only keep coming back in the hope that "it'll get better this year" but it hasn't been doing. The dance village and the Glade are superb, mind you.

A lot of people just want to sit and enjoy the music these days. They don't need to freak out and bounce around the place to have a good night. I myslef must admit that some concerts I go to, I will juust sit and watch the musicianship. Watch the band play their instruments (since I am a musician myslef). With a chemical brothers show, I would just love to get to the front and gaze in awe for a while, then when a really kickin song comes on (such as out of control) i'll rip it up. Get in with the nearest group dancing and join in. Songs such as we are the night, music response and come with us are songs that I would really just want to make my way to the front and watch in awe.

Also, the crowd doesn't always depend on the location of the venue, it also really depends on who is playing. For example: I saw the chems play here in a place called "the hershey center". They were great but everybody just stood there watching. It wasn't wild at all. A few years later, I saw MSTRKRFT play at the same place. The crowd went absolutly psycho the whole time. And the chems and mstrkrft would attract almost the same kind of audience.

I guess that Glastonbury attracts the sitters. People who just want to sit and enjoy the show. But that shouldn't stop you from wanting to do a happy dance! :) (even if you are the only one)

Its interesting that the Glastonbury crowd this year was seriously dull. It looks like they were right up for it during the Chems footage that was broadcast with people holding flares as stuff, it looked cool anyway even if it wasn't to be at. I wonder why Tom and Ed thought it was their best gig to date?

Anyway apparently the Evises are going to change things for next year and try and attract a less middle age middle class audience. Good knows how though. At £100 odd pounds a ticket they're certainly not going to be reeling in the working classes.

I'm lucky going to see the Chems play in Scotland where the audiences are always a riot.

Aww. It's such a bummer to hear bits and pieces here and there about the lackluster crowd at Glastonbury. But it's just that - bits and pieces here and there, from various spots in the crowd. I wish I was there so I could have seen/felt for myself. :P I imagine from Tom and Ed's perspective being up there on stage... the different vantage point looking into the collective mass and seeing an overall response and maybe that is what they're going on with the whole "might be our best gig to date" thing. I don't know, really. I'm just being a babble mouth, throwing it out there. It would be interesting to know which gigs have been (in their opinions) their best as well as worst.
