They're too busy getting us the Further unmixed mp3s.

Seriously, this is a fucking shame. This updated site has been around for what, a year? It was so fresh and exciting and everyone was giving mad props...and the mod/admin/designer DESERVED the praise. Now we can't even get them to create one or two simple updates to defeat the spam that is defacing the board. It genuinely is decreasing traffic among veterans and noobs alike.
Whirly's right, bitching doesn't help, but none of our suggestions seemed to have been implemented, either.
Let's start again with a stop-gap idea. Perhaps all new accounts should have to make a minimum of 3-5 posts in active threads before opening a new thread. This is an easy change that would definitely lessen the junk, and it is similar to what the moderator said they were already looking at. I know our admin truly did some good work in the beginning, but did he just dump us here or is an effort actually being made? This is a professional site, not some teenager's facebook page. Isn't there some professional pride at stake?

but nothing has happened and is happening and I honestly doubt something is going to happen. we have more than 25,000 forum members of which 1,000s are spambots for sure, there's up to 20 or more new spam topics a day, what is going to happen once you're on holiday (or coach ) and mod might be sick or whatever? how worse shall it get?
I agree, it is a total shame for such a professional forum and I also think unless nothing at all seems to be done we should keep on complaining.
it's nighttime at whirly's place right now and not yet office time in the UK - 6 active spam topics are open right now. what a shame.

Some of you may remember the last time anything was done when the spam reached critical mass was when the moderator account was disabled resulting in spam spreading like small pox. Ed logged on and wondered wtf, and finally some changes were made. Along with the whole scenario being a shame it must've been downright embarrassing for him since it was his own forum. The band have other things to worry about than effin spam, seriously.
I just don't know what else to do, complaining doesn't seem to work.

Yeah, I'm sure you have better things to do as well. Your efforts have been appreciated. You have better things to do than babysit spam. For instance, babysitting us....
It sucks that you are taking on the extra work and everybody is unhappy anyway. Everyone knows you're on top of it and we do appreciate it.

but let's hope this wouldn't lead to such limitations for "real" forumies like it was with the last forum (no quotes etc)
