This is VERY OT but i just wanna send out a warning!

PLEASE be carefull when you type in youre number when getting cash from an ATM!

I just got a call from my bank.

They told me that at this VERY moment my pass was used in THAILAND! They already blocked my pass and are sending me a new one , but now i lost 340 euro's....! ( I will get that back tho )

They also have reasons to believe the pass was copied in New York last year.

So please be carefull when you use an ATM! I am lucky that my bank is checking those things 24/7 , but maybe for some , you dont find ou that this has happend until u have to pay youre rent and you can't prove anything

( It was really true, as i had him on nthe phone i checked my account online and they used it already three times! )

This happened to my brother - his card got cloned in a dodgy Shell garage and they took £600 from him in India. I think he got it back, but it took a while.

You need to watch out for any dodgy devices near the card slots

The same to my father!(like a year ago)

The best thing you can do is never let your credit card leave your sight when providing it to a waiter/server and frequently monitor your account statements.

I didn't think it was that common until it happened to charlie...

when we told friends what had happened they'd go on to say "yeah it's happened to me" or at least they knew somebody it had happened to.

it's everywhere sadly.

sorry to hear they got you jeans..

happened to ex girlfriend of mine she stupidly used a atm on grafton street in dublin when it is common knowledge that they are all dodgy with the card skimming devices she got done for 500 euro but got it back a few months later

That's a bummer Jeans. I'm sorry to hear that!! I am so glad you are getting it settled. You're sadly not alone in this. It's happened to us, a few years ago. Took a while to get resolved but we managed to do it!

Banks are on top of things like this more these days. But good luck if you ever have to speak to someone in the fraud division department. They are overwhelmed!

Just hope nobody here ever becomes the vicitim of identity theft. Someone nicked my SS # several years ago and ran up a hefty cell phone bill. I had to fax in proof that I was who I was, and that phone wasn't in my name. Someone used my number and a bogus name!! Took a looooooooooooooooooong time for me to settle that matter with AT&T. Blessing in disguise - at the time I had really bad credit so it wasn't as though anyone could do much of anything with my SS number. Thankfully it was only that one incident. So much worse has happened to better people. I still to this day have no idea how someone got hold of my SS #. I guard it with my life.

According to a BBC programme it is now at the sole discretion of the bank whether they bother to report ATM scams to the police or not.The police have directed the banks to investigate and resolve individual cases.Which makes it just about the only crime that the police dont want to know about any longer! This applies to the UK only.So far...

Yeah well its not that bad , actually the most annoying thing is that i cant use my atm card for a week and that i get a new pin number , i mean i will get the money back..

I'm just sending out a warning , cause imagine if you find out yourself and you have NO proof that it wasn't you!

A friend of mine lost around 10.000 euro's that way. She's a model so she had big amounts of money on her account. To be honest - she was a bit silly , cause she couldve get the money back with some effort , but she couldnt be bothered...
