300 is a great movie full of visual effects and graphics which made it different and much better.
Acting was great, director did a wonderful job and chose great actors, full of action, and it is based on a true story.

Yes, this film is based on a true story.
The irony is that according to some scholars, Greece had a higher rate of slavery than Persia at the time, and you were more likely to be employed by the Persian empire than that of Greece. Keep in mind that the ideal that was being fought for by the Spartans was so that the elite could keep being elite.
The other thing that bothered me was the portrayal of hot, woman on woman action being connected with betrayal, darkness, and general evil. There is a direct parallel with the idea that the scene the grotesque soldier walked into was absolutely wrong, when in my opinion, it was nothing but hot.
Why couldn't it be that the Spartans were fighting for hotness? I mean, seriously, if it came to a choice between the nuclear family and the hot titties in my face, I'd be like, "BRING ON THA TITTAIES!" (insert Dave Chappelle's voice here)
But yes, it was the most aesthetically pleasing violence I've seen on screen. Ever.

A. the Spartans were a warrior race in order to keep their many and revolting slaves in line. the Spartan army was a standing army -- imnportant to note!
B. that scene was simply the epitome of indulgence, no aspirations etc
a weak movie in terms of message and succh
a sweet movie in terms of visual pleasure and eye candy
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

I think it is spam - should really be merged into the now watching thread really (not sure how to merge threads, tho) Opening weekend of 300 set records for the month of March here in the States but I don't know about elsewhere.
I enjoyed the eye candy and the film was gorgeous to look at, I just found it lacking. I can't put my finger on exactly why I feel this way. Anyway, the fact that it is sparking debate on the whole historical accuracy front is intriguing.
