headphones allow the possibility of experiencing something beautifully in a variety of settings -- say you're wandering on a rainy day...

quality home speakers make a very personal experience, a familiar setting et c

massive stadium speakers allow you to be blown away with a large group of strangers. it makes a special bond.

so yeah.... how can you have a preference? you rather need a balance...

Not a crap question at all, Chops!

I think GLAKO summed up my thoughts quite well.

Headphones offer a more intimate listening experience and allow you the chance to catch certain sounds and subtelties you might not catch in a setting with lots of interference. I like cans sitting over my ears because of the comfort level, but I recently bought a decent pair of ear buds (not like those crappy iPod buds) that are nice because they are quite confortable and I don't have to crank up the volume and damage my ears if I want to listen to music. What was fun the weekend before last was my husband and I went downtown and sat on the beach listening to We Are The Night on my ipod. We got a splitter so we could both listen and become absorbed in the music together. It was a clear night too so all the stars were out and there was some moonlight glinting on the water. And through the music we could hear the waves crashing on the beach.

I like having music playing when I'm at home, but it's restrictive for me. I can't listen to it as loud as I want because I have to be a good neighbor and not bother the people living below me.

Of course listening on a massive stadium set up is the ultimate because everyone in the crowd is going on the same journey as you are. For the Chems and a lot of live acts, the act of listening to music (loud!!) with lots of people heightens the bond. Music should be shared and enjoyed together!

One of my favorite ways to listen to music is when I'm driving in my car. I love to drive. I don't have a fantastic sound system in my car, but my new car came with a decent system anyway. I love rolling the windows down and listening to tunes and feeling the wind rush through my hair. I like driving along the coast with the ocean beside me while I'm listening to these great tunes! Hearing the music this way, while driving the normal route to work and especially going on a road trip - the music becomes the soundtrack to my driving. When there's passengers in the car it's even better. The Private Psychadelic Reel became my son's favorite thing to listen to in mommy's car.

hahaha!! Yeah, I babble incessantly. It really doesn't look like much in the tiny post box when I'm typing like mad, but when I hit Send and see the results I think "god, look what i've done!"

OK everyone, I'm off to go get pummelled by some waves, drink lots of Red Stripe and maybe watch some fireworks later on this evening.

To all my fellow Americans, have a happy (and safe!) 4th of July!!

@Chops ....

I prefer a nice set of speakers so I can FEEL the music. Hearing the layers is great -- but I like FEELING that bass shake my innards.

*sigh* I miss my old car with the massive stereo. Ho hum.

Happy 4th! off to see fireworks soon...

So in the words of Stan Marsh,"I've learnt something today" I knew the term "cans" for headphones but never heard "buds". Realised I havent really got a favourite and that i forgot to mention cars. I've only been drivin for ayear or so and I havent got to grips with it blaring out and being able to keep focus! I have been trying but I get too involved with the music and cause havoc to motorists.

Woot! 1 more sleep and then I leave for the four days and nights of debauchery that is the Winnipeg Folk Festival. I am absolutely loaded for bear. Sorted with 1/4 ounce weed, 1/8 ounce hash, 1/2 ounce shrooms, have 12 gelcaps of "pure" (we'll see...) MDMA waiting, and I'm off to the liquor store for 24 beers, a 1/2 bottle of Jack, and a bottle of wine. That oughta get me through... Of course, a large portion of the drugs are for others (and will hopefully be traded for interesting things...), but there will be enough for me, I'm sure. I'd better not break my new cellphone this weekend.

Perhaps this should be in Buzzed Posting, but I'm sober at the moment. Though I may sample the hash after I'm done my shopping... Hmmmm.....

surface_to_air: 5-HTP is a nutritional supplement commonly used to help with minor depression, mood swings, and improve quality of sleep. It is a chemical precursor to serotonin, one of the major mood regulating chemicals in the brain. MDMA (Ecstasy) works by emulating serotonin, preventing the breakdown of serotonin by MAO, and causing the release of the brain's serotonin stores. The next day or two, serotonin levels are very low, leading to the classic crash and "Blue Monday". Once in the brain, 5-HTP is converted to serotonin and, therefore, can be useful in preventing a really shitty day or two after a night out munching pills. (Probably a longer answer than required, but...)

Video Description:

Pretty disgusting, yet very informative. Not for the faint of heart. Notice: This could be considered NSFW, it depends though.

@Jeanie,surface to air & Darkstarexodus:

In my experience, its also best to take 5htp a couple of days before you drop as well as after. I imagine it boosts your levels of serotonin even more and you have more of a good time but that can mean more disappears as well so be careful not to take too much. Plus its bloody expensive where i live, its cheaper to do more of the good stuff!

I actually got L-Tryptophan instead of 5-HTP.

L-Tryptoho -> 5 Htp -> Serotin.

I did research on the internet and altho both dont really do harm , L-Trypto is considered more safe.

I just took 2 of them tho , the night after and the morning after that, I didnt do much drugs so i wasn't that comedown.

Anyway people , i'm not online that much anymore , as

1) I just had a PARTY HARDY! weekend

2) I started my new job today ( Say Hi to Jeanie the Office Manager ;-) Who said Ex-Models without any degrees couldnt get a good job eh ?! )

3) I'm working on having an actual life.

Love is all my friends!

L-Tryptophan is currently banned in North America due to safety and purity concerns. There were a few lots of L-Tryptophan that passed purity and safety screening tests and I believe a couple people died as a result. Hence, no more L-Tryptophan.

I used to preload with 5-HTP, but I found it actually made the experience less intense for me. Definetly a must on the comedown though.

I'm off to the Festival. See y'all after the weekend. If I don't return, avenge my death!

Cheers!

ok, this is very off topic but i think it will intrest some.

.

I'm going away for 3 weeks to the arctic circle. Yes. The arctic circle. As strange as it sounds. My brother has to go up to renovate a train station and has invited me to come so i'll be gone for 3 weeks. Maybe i'll find a computer to post on, maybe not. But even while i'm gone, i'll still remember the board up there. So I leave tommorow at 6am. So i'll remember you guys when i'm up there. Alright cya'll later. Don't have too much fun without me ;)
