Got a Juno-106 today after having to sell my last one off to pay rent, and it's broken!! woohoo! I agree with you ben_j on the anticipation being pissed on. I am in luck, however, I think it's the common fixable voice chip problem. All I know is the old dirty bastard freezes up, especially if the filter is on high cutoff. I swear some of the chems shows this tour had this problem with their juno too, I know during hey boy hey girl (munich I think?) that the riff kept freezing on a note like mine does. So if Ban or Milco happens to be around, what did you do?

yeah, at the live show the hbhg riff is different. it's a little louder, and octave higher, and often times modulated or run through filters and Ed is at the juno I recall.
BassStation rack is awesome! I got one for $150 a few years ago, nice cause it's makes some heavy moogish mono sounds, has external filters, and has a cv converter for olde synths. Not good for pseudo 303 sounds, but ever other bass it's good for.

Man, that's sad. Hope you can sort it out and repair that synth.
But to spread some love: I had the chance today to play on a Waldorf Q+ Phoenix synth in a dj store. It was awesome, really. Such a massive saturate sound. I whished I could spent a whole night there to get the circuits boiling. When I asked the owner how much bucks it would cost me, he said: "Well 10,700€". I guess the feeling is the same when you get an eagerly awaited Juno that is not working.

it seems to be working today more :) no freezes yet! My saddest synth story has to be losing my mono/poly, the synth I could never really afford. Then a japan store had one for cheap (cause the wood was breaking). I get it, it plays beautiful, and being a chems fan, I love tweaker synths like that. Then the keys started not working, and as I was fixing that, there was a power surge and the poor thing blew out. I quickly ran out into the rain holding it while shouting "why god? why!?! Take me instead!" for dramatic effect. I will get one again someday, I swear!
Hopefully, I'll get my polysix working again, I love that synth (aside fromt/':::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::9) <-haha that was my cat typing. Anyway, I might like the polysix more than the juno, but the juno has that midi I love so dearly! and no exploding batteries, which is always a good thing

Holy crap!! Exploding battery?! And you had to run out into the rain??? With the synt??? That must have been felt like hell. Didn't you get a heart attack? I would have got one for sure!!!
Seems the synthies hold something against you and I had to laugh about your "shouting scene" because those things happen to me a lot too. Things never can be without a little downer.
Yes, the polysix is an awesome synth indeed!
I mean, I only have it virtually but it's an amazing, powerful buddy. Having a real shaped synth is always sex for your brain, isn't it?!
A minor issue about the poly is the missing glide knob.

wow, good eye ben_j. That's one of their Oberheim Xpanders. Don't think I've actually looked over their setup for the 02 tour since, well 02, and I've learned a bit since that time. Hmm, I do wonder what they used that ms2000 for... maybe I'll watch it and repost in a minute shouting success.
Also side note, I know I haven't posted the audio samples for the distortions yet, and I may when I get my juno fixed but here is the break down of distortion pedals I've owned:
1. Boss DS-1: Basic distortion, cheap and steady.
2. Boss MT-2 Metal Zone: Has controls for high and lower frequencies ("color mixer") so it's good if you want an inexpensive equalizer and to make bassey distortion or really high distortion.
3. Electro-Harmonix Big Muff: My favorite at the moment. Good for getting heavy distortion and a nice fuzz, has a tone control to muffle it up a bit. I'd suggest this over the boss ones, just seems good for synths.
4. Ibanez Tube Screamer Turbo TS-09: Great pedal for synths like the MS2000. People complain that that synth lacks lower bass levels or is too thin sounding, this distortion adds some good tube sound to give the MS2000 some real presence. I think this is the reason Korg has been adding tubes on to their groove boxes. This pedal is not much to mention on distortion but it mixes very well with the other ones.

Think they might use the ms2000 for the echo... My reason would be that he hangs around it for the echoing drums from SSU/Studio K and if you ever listen to it on headphones, it has the same left>right>left>right panning echo on that one can get out of the MS. Also some 02 versions of of SSU has the Sitar riff do that echo too, so that's just one possibility, that one of the outputs from the Akai rackmount samplers in the back has a single channel run through the MS2000 before it hits Tom's board.
Also, looks like they had the machinedrum in 02. I thought they got that later, but it's there in it's spot and Ed was using it in star guitar (possible for those percussive bleep noises that occasionally changed..)

you sure you're not seeing the ms10? the 2000 was always the rack, I think and located in the same spot. I can definitely be wrong. All I know is I WISH THEY WOULD UPDATE THE GOOD THINGS SECTION AND INCLUDE SOME INFO ON WHAT EACH SYNTH HAS BEEN USED ON, SUCH A THING WOULD BE PRAISED AS NANG!

yeah, you'd think they could afford the regular version, but apparently the rack version is in their budget. Ahh! I still can't believe they had the machinedrumm in the CWU tour, I always associated that with Galvanize and the PTB tour. I need to go back and watch more live stuff... fo sho

^ wow that guy had money to burn, what I would've given to be at his show with a screw driver (to disassemble not to shank) and some running shoes...
I got a super cheap casio cz-5000 from this guy over in my like who worked at e-mu (their headquarters are a few miles away). My first digital-non pseudo analog- synth. Also I am getting a micro korg again after missing the small keys and portability. I hope my ms2000br understands... Also, if they were using the MS2000 on music response, that might further my theory that they use it for the echo since many shows have echo on the vocoder and N. Wray samples.
