How do we actually know it will be soon. There has been no word from Tom or Ed of this, just speculation and talk of it.

I can personally see it coming after the december tour. Possible this will mark the end of the PTB era.

I was going to make a sig with that pic of Darstarexodus I posted, then put a caption underneath to look like a ransom note: "Give us a live dvd, or the Canadian gets it!" I mean, Tom and Ed wouldn't want to be responsible for people dying or receiving grave bodily injuries on account of not releasing a dvd, so they'd have to get one out.

But now that we are no longer holding Darkstar hostage...

true unless work has allready started. But they seem to have a heavy schedule so i doubt it. I wonder if it is release whether it will just be a recording from one show or lots of shots simular to the underworld dvd.

I'm not saying it will never happen..

but in answer to all these requests for a live dvd some points..

we put some very fine live footage on our recent dvd, covering up the minute live shows and historical footage. we are not a band who like continually like putting things out for people to buy, we like making music and then finding away to get that too people..

what is the point of a live dvd, our shows are about being there, the volume the vibe of the crowd the glint in tom's eye, getting out of the house in a hot venue or a beatiful festival..I have no urgent need to reduce that experience to sitting at home in front of the tv..

The filming of our shows is highly intrusive and I feel deflects from the experience of those that have paid good money to be there, that is why when we are filmed for tv we only give them a couple of sonngs..

those are just a few reasons why no live dvd is planned

we are both well after a long tour and are about to regroup in the studio

thanks to everyone from here for making push the button tour rock hard

love ed

Well that's kinda the thing with a Live DVD... Sadly you can't tour ALL the world, and for us to come out to see your shows is often very hard. A live DVD is not about to replace the experience of going to a real show, but more like a goodie for all the fans that for some reasons can't see you...

thanks for the post ed, knowing you guys actually give a shit about what we think is always appreciated around these parts.

your right about not being able to get the live experience onto dvd, the raw energy, tom waving at you after the gig (eh jeanie?!!) just cant get onto film.

BUT........

for those who have never, or cant due to geographical restrictions, see a live show it would be the next best thing. especially a dolby 5.1 mixed show! *wink wink nudge nudge*!!!

it appears that its come to be somewhat of a holy grail around here for the hardcore fans, everyone has a perfect live dvd in mind, its all to do with taste, fav album era, gig you've been to. etc.

but anyways, tom,ed i hope the idea sticks in your brain till one day its the right time then blow us all away with another dvd! thanks again for giving us the lo-down, soo you guys in belfast on the dec 3rd!

If not a live DVD then what about posting some live shows in MP3 ? Those do very well. One of my favorite bands, Phish (chems being #1 but they're no 2 or 3) does it well. The think i think the chems could do is not post every show, but put up historic shows, maybe they could put up one of their first shows from sabresonic in 94, or their legendary glasto 2000 show, or ones where they did something rare like do close your eyes live or one with hold tight london (which is the best new song live IMO). Plus it doesn't cost much money, so many bands like phish give the some profits to charity. Here's what it looks like... something to think about:

Just reading that sent shivers down my spine.

I need live Chems soon. And live, live. Not on my TV.

Ah well. It was worth a shot!

I think there's a good point made about being there vs. being at home and I can see where Ed's coming from in terms of the Chems' shows.

Perhaps one day in the future after more time has lapsed since their last dvd was released. But at least we know there's more music in store for the future and that's definitely something to look foward to. And that's very exciting!

Well Ed looks like we missed each other yet again - glad to see all is well and you're on your way back to the studio. Thanks for stopping by and giving us your thoughts.
