I meant problem/question. I'm in love with its synth melody. It's so friggin' chemical & smart!

I don't think they finished work on problem/question as the machines wouldn't work the way they wanted them to. think there was an interview somewhere (? not sure though) where it said animal track / problem/question had been tried a number of times live but would not work in the end.

anyone got the source???

Well I wouldn't care about Problem/Question being unreleased if they had kept playing it live.

ChemicalMat FTW!

Awesome find. How did you find this track? Please, do tell.

There is one thing that I am wondering about though. Is it the original mix or is it a different mix. The horns in the original have more of a high note squeal to them (thoiugh still awesome) compared to the mix Tom and Ed play. There is also less drums in certain parts. I've found the walter gibbons mixes but they still sound slightly off. I relaize alot of this can be explained by EQ effects and pitch, but I still wonder if there is a White label out there of this.

BTW, I still love that feeling when we find tracks Tom and Ed played in their sets that have never been revealed. Feels like opening Christmas presents.

Edit: This is the closest I can find to the direct sample (go to @8:55). It has softer drums, horns still blare, but it sounds more like it.

Ah ah, I feel exactly the same when I find tracks ^^
How I found it ? It's a web digging story :P At the beginning there was Erol Alkan retweeting Django Django that posted this track on tweeter : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=2v-R5BnOOYY
I really loved it, so I searched on which album I could download it and I fall on a double CD compilation of Walter Gibbons mixes. I listened it and surprise ! I discovered this track was Gladys Knight. It made my day :)

Edit : Nice find for the unreleased mix ! It's the closest, I think Tom & Ed did some editing for the BBC mix...

And like the psychtronic mix, tracklisting was calling for this one as well.

Unknown
Gladys Knight - It's a Better Than Good Time (Unreleased mix?)
Bjorke & Barfod - Superbacon
Chemical Brothers - Don't Think
Untold - Stereo Freeze
The Future Sound Of London - Papua New Guiena
Massive Attack - Teardrop (Chemical Brothers Unreleased mix)
Charisma - C Rock

Still missing the first track with the 'rise from our graves' sample. Outside of that, all I have to say is...Superbacon

Awesome find!!

Thanks, I'm going to put that in the v1.1 guide to Ben_j's FTP. Currently adding a DJ set section and have been scouring the land for tracklistings and IDs.

That version of Gladys Knight's track is an unreleased acetate version by Walter Gibbons found on a "Jungle Music" compilation. Tom proactively revealed it on a list he made of his favorite music from 2010:

Quote

In no particular order...

emeralds - "does it look like im here"

tame impala - "lucidity"

kanye west - "my beautiful..."

cassius - "i love you so"

i break horses - "hearts"

gladys knight - "its a better than good time" (unreleased walter gibbons acetate mix) on strut compilation "jungle music"

tv show -"the trip"

sound generators : old - a steiner parker synthacon and new - a korg ims20 for ipad.

That's it! Do you know which version? The one in the DJ mix has no piano in it and the voice pitch is lower:

ps: THIS IS COCANE SPEAKING!!!

Also, that 4/4 beat that kicks in (in the DJ mix) is from something else.

Can't remember which version - have a look on Beatport or Juno Download. There's a few different versions of that track - pretty sure it's not from the Tiefschwarz mixes that came out fairly recently.

I haven't listened to the Tong mix for a while but I'm pretty sure it was done in Ableton - they might have re-pitched the Phuture track?
