I wish there were more people in the NorCal area I could connect with.

Hey I think Biff is from Northern California. I'm not sure where exactly.
I feel your pain, though. I wish there were some people from SoCal that would post. It would be nice meeting up with local like mindeds from here to just hang with, and who weren't too tired to go out clubbing every once in a while.

Yeah, this is true, I live outside in boring ass Walnut Creek but am moving to Santa Cruz in 2 weeks, que that Fatboy Slim song of the same name!!! But I totally know what you mean regarding the lack of people.
It's really a matter of making them when they're not there, I know that a lot of my friend's/co-workers consider me a credible source of music opinion and when they find out the chemical brothers are my favorite band it stops and makes them think. They hear it and it opens dialog. I know during high school I never really told people of my "chemical dependency" but when you're in an environment with more open minded people it makes things better. Certainly for me it was working at a record store where people bring in their music and share it is a great way to connect. Hell, the person that hired me was a chemical brothers fan, I might not have even gotten the job if it weren't for that.

Working in a record store definitely exposed me to people with similar tastes, or at the very least people who were willing to share their music and have others share music with them. It was also a young, social environment. It's also the nature of retail and the human contact being a part of the job. I've always loved music since I was little, all kinds of music and I think it's one of the most pure forms of expression no matter how its made - so working in that environment (on the upside) expanded my horizons. There are a couple of things I miss about the job like the social environment and exposure to music (which is why I either went back to work there full time and stuck with the job for as long as I did.) Also getting older is starting to play a role in the overall social dynamic. We don't go out the way we used to when we were younger and had fewer obligations - I'm 34, been married going on 12 years and have a son starting 3rd grade - and most of my friends my age have moved on and are doing their own things like I am. But yeah, talking about music opens up the door to more dialogue. I went out to lunch with a bunch of coworkers the other day and we spent the better part of an hour talking about concerts.

I suspect some of the lost forumites had their passwords saved onto their PC, which then crashed, and that left them with no link to their previous account. Or, they just got bored and took a really long hiatus
