(Bill Graham Presents) New Order
The Chemical Brothers
Friday, April 29th ? 7:00PM

Tickets On Sale
Sunday, March 13th at 10AM
Bill Graham Presents is proud to announce a special performance by New Order with The Chemical Brothers at Henry J Kaiser arena in Oakland. The show is on Friday, April 29th at 7:00pm. This is a one-off performance and is not part of a tour.
Rising from the ashes of the legendary British post-punk unit Joy Division, the enigmatic New Order triumphed over tragedy to emerge as one of the most influential and acclaimed bands of the 1980s; embracing the electronic textures and disco rhythms of the underground club culture many years in advance of its contemporaries, the group's pioneering fusion of new wave aesthetics and dance music successfully bridged the gap between the two worlds, creating a distinctively thoughtful and oblique brand of synth pop appealing equally to the mind, body, and soul.
The act with the first arena-sized sound in the electronica movement, the Chemical Brothers united such varying influences as Public Enemy, Cabaret Voltaire, and My Bloody Valentine to create a dance-rock-rap fusion which rivalled the best old-school DJs on their own terms ? keeping a crowd of people on the floor by working through any number of groove-oriented styles featuring unmissable samples, from familiar guitar riffs to vocal tags to various sound effects.
Tickets for New Order go on sale THIS SUNDAY, March 13th at 10AM at BGP.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets including Tower Records, Wherehouse Music, Ritmo Latino, select Save Mart and select FYE stores, and Tix Bay Area in Union Square. Believe me, I would if I could.
Or I would if toomuch'stash would let me. ;) It seriously pains me that I cannot go. With Coachella weekend and our lodging and food there, we honestly couldn't afford to go to San Francisco that Friday night.

that's the problem with the States. It's to fuckin big. public transportation is a joke and plane tickets cost a fortune( for me atleast...i only work at taco bell and go to school :( ) Driving across the country is the only real option which again requires a hell lot of patience and g-money.

I ran this gig by a coworker of mine who is a massive New Order fan.
She is so tempted to do a suicide drive up to San Francisco, then drive back down to California in time for Saturday at Coachella. I say she's crazy, but I was half tempted to call 'stash and tell him he was on his own Friday night cuz I was going to see the Chems and New Order with her!
As a joke. As a joke. ;)
You're right about the States, chemreaction. Domestic plane travel can be expensive and travelling by train is really pricey and can be inconvenient because you need a car to get from the trainstation to point B. Doing a suicide drive around the US can kill your car. Just hang in there. The Chems might surprise us all by doing a show in Detroit or somewhere close by. Summer will only tell.

FINNALLY THEY ANNOUNCE WHEN THE RELEASE TICKETS. I've been checking everywhere for the last week. now I just need to book a hotel for that weekend.
I'm going to this gig and I'm from canada.
the only way I can afford it though is because I work for the some of the airlines (Horizon, Northwest, Continental, Westjet). Yes North american public transport is a joke. you should see how we run things on the ramp.

I might go to this whirly.
I'm not sure. Do you think it's worth it? Ussually dont they have like some of the same set's on the tour, aka I would be hearing alot of the same music?
I also dont know I'd be able to get back in time to get on the bus that our University is taking down to coachella.

If only that gig weren't an 8 hour drive from where I am, and the day before Coachella...
I really hope someone from the forums goes to this. I would love to read a first hand account!
you HAAAAAAAAD to go to coachella, didn't you?
Even with travel costs, it would have been cheaper, and definately more comfortable, AND there probably would have been a longer Chems set.
Good job.

WTF??? is it worth it??? what do you think??!!?
In my opinion, I think it would be worth it. If you think you can do it, then by all means, you MUST go!!
It pains me that toomuch'stash is pushing my buttons on this missed opportunity. If we could pull this off, we would. But right now we see no feasible way.
I wonder if Biff (remember him?) is planning on going to this gig?
