hello

I know I'm not about on the board that often any more. mips is doing his dissertation/recording lots so he's not really about a lot at the moment but we thought we'd try and get something going about music as a wider thang (mainly by knicking some ideas from other boards we read)....don't get me wrong, I'm happy to talk about tom and ed until the cows come home, especially with a new album upon us but I think this could be healthy for the board and a great way of finding out about new music of all types and also get some discussion going.

I know there's been some similar ideas in the past; there's the 'now playing' thread but that does tend to get used for "I'm listening to massive attack - blue lines" etc

what I'm talking about is people recomending new music thats out there and trying to keep it as a regular thread/feature. there's plenty of dj's on this board, sneaks, acidchildren & chem fan, dan, the lads from turnmills, me and mips and more. dj's aside everyone here is scouring for, and enjoying new music so...

so what do you think?. if you hear some good new music. just stick up a post and maybe a link to a record shop like juno/phonica/picadilly etc (I've picked UK stores that I use but anything that'll let people have a listen)

good idea/bad idea?

I'm going to start another thread on a similar tip for mixes. I download an awful lot of mixes, a) to listen to/enjoy and b) to find great new music. I figure a similar thing pointing people to gems you've found could be a nice idea. I check things like beatsinspace, resident advisor, 4four and some music blogs for new stuff. so maybe this could be a good way of pointing people towards some good shit.

feel free to throw eggs at me. ingore this post etc

OK. I'll kick off...

SIMON BAKER : Plastik INFANT RECORDS

http://media.phonica...infant010_1.mp3

wobbly bass action and a sniff of organ. nice

SIOBHAN DONAGHY - Dont Give It Up

Carl Craig mixes (white label)

http://media.phonica...rdjsx6759_2.mp3

the dubs the one for me, not so keen on the vocal. maybe not quite as instant as some of carls recent gems but still killer. plus I'm a sucker for a bit of deep pad action...this makes me want to flail about in a dark room

ARPADYS - Stone Roller (supersound records)

http://media.phonica.../und003SS_1.mp3

the chems featured stone roller on their confront your demons mix. the tracks taken from a rare as hens teeth bige cosmic disco album (which as just been re-issued/or booted more likely). this is a nice loud pressing of stone roler. there's some other great tracks also on the supersound re-issue/bootleg label and they're out of print on the whole so no disco guilt.

i dont know if this is exactly NEW. but i am fascinated by this guy and have been for awhile now.

Candie Hank... aka patrick catani. he makes the best surealist circus music i have ever heard. seriously . he is demented in all the right ways.

uhm too get a proper listen to him. i know not many people are fans of myspace but his also has some videos that might be worth checking out.

wonderful thread mchebne!

I'll be coming here a lot to take reccos, for the time I'm quite happy. :)

Btw, I'm curious if anyone has any info on what's cooking new in the Freestylers, Prodigy and Fatboy camps - long time we heard from them.

not new but it's just been repressed. a mix tape killer:

Tangoterje : Diamonds Dub

http://www.piccadill...monds%20Dub.mp3

http://www.piccadill...Your%20Love.mp3

Todd dubs out Paul Simon's original on the title track, using snippets of the original vocal amongst a wash of reverb and delay, all sat atop the bass groove.

.....but the real winner for me is the second link. He's taken Curtis Mayfield's Give Me Your Love and made a thing of lolloping, ebbing joy. sublime slow mo disco for late nights...

lovely

Well, rumour has it (well, the prodigy have it on their myspace, plus it is on wikipedia) that the Prodigy are supposedly working on a new album that is marked for summer/fall 2007 release on their new label.

I haven't heard anything new from Fatboy, other than his new mix under his Mighty Dub Katz name.

However, there is supposed to be a new Underworld album coming out this year, which could be really cool.

2007 is the year for electronic music!

What the hell is this 2 bit pie. That chick looks like a goth, and I hate goths. Me and my friends usually go out at night to kick some goth's asses for dressing funny. And these whacko's probably have all these terrible goth songs like... let me suck something outta my thumb here... Slipaway, PIL and Little Things. *Barf*

I go out to kick furys' asses too, especially the ones dressed up like bears, because they dress funny too
