THE Chemical Brothers will be playing at London’s Olympia, their biggest ever London headline show, on Saturday, August 30, 2008.

This will be the first time any band has played this historic venue in 10 years and demonstrates, yet again, the incredible popularity of the band, both commercially and critically.

The Chemical Brothers have also been nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Tom and Ed are up for Best Dance Recording for the single Do It Again and for Best Electronic Album/Dance Album for We Are The Night.

The band already have a collection of Grammy Awards, having won in 1998 Best Rock Instrumental for Block Rockin’ Beats and in 2005, winning Best Dance Recording for Galvanize and Best Electronic/Dance Album for Push The Button.

2007 has also been a spectacular year for Tom and Ed. It has seen them play an incredible show at Trafalgar Square, headline Glastonbury and Fuji Rock, as well as selling-out three nights at Brixton Academy and playing the Roundhouse in London and playing as part of the BBC’s Electric Proms.

Their latest album We Are The Night became the fifth successive No 1 album in the UK. Tickets for Olympia will go on sale at 9am on Tuesday, December 18, and will be priced £30.

I have just made it a goal to save up money to get myself to that gig. The ticket *should* be no problem, if I can learn how to pay with £'s.

aaaah I read "Olympia in 2008" and I jumped around. I didn't know there was an Olympia in London too :( (There's a famous concert hall called "Olympia" in Paris)

Well done lads, never retire, your loved to much!!!! Amazing facts about them though, what a fantastic body of work to look back on. :-)

This is fantastic! What an achievement for Tom and Ed, I am so proud, sniff sniff.

To all who are planning on going, what a wonderful thing to be a part of this band"s history by going to their largest ever headlining show!

Screw holiday presents - I am in need of a renewed passport!! Nearly 9 months notice... I wanna gooooooooooo!!!!!! I want to be there and meet up with old friends again and meet all the people I have missed. I think my husband would shoot me if I went to London to see the Chems without him but it is so tempting!!

Another thing - Tom and Ed and crew sure are running themselves ragged with this tour. Of course there are the occasional breaks inbetween dates. But it has been pretty non-stop. Is it just me or does it seem like theyve been going and going and going and going...? With the Olympia gig, they will have technically been on tour for over a year.

Yeah, they really have been giving a lot back to the fans Whirly, it will be pretty much a years tour, and one of the best in my opinion! We had better make the most of it beacause it ill be another 2 and a bit years wait :-( not that I'm not still listening and hearing new things from the 'We are the night' album, but you know how much we all crave new material from our fave brothers!! ;-)

Whirly's right, they haven't stopped on this tour. And this show is going to be EPIC. I'll do everything in my power to make it. Gotta show Tom 'n Ed our love and respect for all their hard work!

Hey, and then there's meeting you all. That'd be just about awesome as hell. ^^

On my birthday?! That's a sign, isn't it???!!! Hmmm, I'm seriously entertaining the idea of heading over to London next year...

whirly, if you go, stash, bosco, or mad'ooter or anyone else are down for it I'll definitely go. I am really tempted since i was trying to make a trip to Europe in the next two years. I really want to see the chems again, I really want to meet the forum members on the right side of the pond, and I really want to go to London again, and i think this would be an amazing gig to see... do it-do it-do it (again)! Miss Cleo says so!!!

LOL at miss Cleo

Biff, I can't leave a brotha hangin', especially a chemical "brotha". So if you're game, then........ I'm game (or at least I'm gonna try my best to go)

I'm a little worried about cost though, as I'm not exactly sure how I will be able to afford a trip like this (I just checked airfare it's a little "steep" for my liking). But like Whirly said, we got a whole 9 months notice for this one, and should give me enough time build up some cash. I'm hopping I don't have to sacrifice Coachella, especially since I have some people expecting me to be there...But I'm quite certain I wont have to.

Would be awesome to finally leave the country for the first time.

Thanks for the heads up, Sneaks :)

P.S. I'm enjoying the enthusiasm from the two n00bs Cyberflash and VorpalStorm, hope you guys stick around! :)
