"The Chemical Brothers will also be releasing a special 3 track digital only release consisting of live songs from their past tour. This will be available on November 29. "

taken from the recent astralwerks newsletter.

You might be right with Close Your Eyes and Hold Tight London, but I'm not so sure about the 3rd one. I hope it's Song To The Siren - I love the live cut-up version. Probably won't be though.

Yeah, I could live with that.

I don't like the idea of digital only releases though. Give me a physical 5-track EP instead.

Although this is a nice first step towards some more substantial live releases, hopefully.

I don't mean to brag... But for those of you who forgot, I posted this a few weeks ago in the "When is a Live DVD coming?" Topic:

Biff Escribi:

If not a live DVD then what about posting some live shows in MP3 ? Those do very well. One of my favorite bands, Phish (chems being #1 but they're no 2 or 3) does it well. The think i think the chems could do is not post every show, but put up historic shows, maybe they could put up one of their first shows from sabresonic in 94, or their legendary glasto 2000 show, or ones where they did something rare like do close your eyes live or one with hold tight london (which is the best new song live IMO). Plus it doesn't cost much money, so many bands like phish give the some profits to charity. Here's what it looks like... something to think about:

My suggestion probably has nothing to do with this but, I'd like to believe they might've read this and though about it over brunch

Hmmmmmm.....

As long as I can get to hear these tracks, fine by me. If the band want to do this then they've got my support.

I can't say I'm a big fan of digital only tracks, mainly because I like my tangibles, the intimacy that comes with the whole package. I don't need to go into it because I don't want it to seem like I'm fanning an argument over what format is better.

But this is the wave of the future. Gotta roll with it eventually.

Plus, when you drool over a keyboard, it's knackered.

When you drool over a CD, you can just wipe it off.

Is it ok if I download mine from a bittorrent site?

seriously, digital only releases are an invitation to piracy.

in reality i guess the live tracks will be something like the big jump, galvanize and believe. cant say im a fan on the commercial market for the digital download. i bought glavanize on digital download when it came out and was rather disapointed with poor quality, low bit rate windows media file i received.

Eventhough it's a digital release only, with bad quality and all that. It's still better then nothing :D.

I just don't get it. They are warming us up with live tracks and live downloads but no live dvd?? While Ed says: "we won't do a live dvd because it's an experience where you have to be to get the full satisfaction" they do release live tracks...

Something fishy is going on here...... :?

I think a couple hours of the ol' "Electrodes on the testicles" treatment would change his mind.

X-D

I dont like random live tracks, in that case give us a full set direct from the soundboard that really would be cool is like having all the tracks they play live in their 2005 versions. or at least the live version of hold tight london :drools:
