Swastika Eyes remix

This seems to be one of those tracks that never get mention. I heard it today first time after I stumbled on the single (no literally). Compared to many of the chems other remixes, this one is much different, it's kinda got the feel of "hey boy hey girl" and the chems remix of "...shelter" but there is a total new element to it. What does everyone else think of this remix ... 2nd disc worthy?

I vote yes, and I mentioned Swastika Eyes on my list in the first thread of this particular forum. It's not only a wicked friggen mix, it's a mix of The Primals for goodness sakes! I think putting Swastika Eyes on a comp cd marking their 10 years of music making is not only a nod to their skills as remix masters, but a nod to the Manchester music scene that helped influence and bring the Brothers together in the first place.

I love SURRENDER but I don't have Primal Scream CDs.
It's a mistake. If you love SURRENDER, do not hesitate to buy (or burn) XTRMNTR : it's the same kind of music (weird electro rock ). Really.
Just helping spread a little Primal Scream gospel! ;)
Anyone interested in the Primals should get their first, "Screamadelica." It's such a great record, it's a timeless masterpiece that doesn't sound dated.
XTRMNTR is a great record also, a lot more hard edged, more angry than the peace loving and come-together-and-have-a-good-timeness that is Screamadelica.
Playing both Primal Scream records back to back really shows how they have evolved as musicians and as people.

Yeah I agree with you, bit I think SURRENDER is closer to XTRMNTR than Screamdelica. For me, records like SURRENDER, XTRMNTR or GET READY (New Order) are soundtracks of the strange world in which we are living, a world where everything is fast, violent, trash, with no moral, in which a man can become president of the most powerfull country without the majority... A fast and "angry" world, LPs recorded in emergency, as if they do not have enough time...
I love Chemical Brothers, but I must confess that on XTRMNTR I prefer the Jagz Kooner mix (let me put my helmet on)... and because Swas. Eyes is not a rare track I hope it won't be on the record.
Ok, kick me now...

Sorry to disagree with you Thibault, but XTRMNTR is nothing like Surrender. In fact, it doesn't sound like any other record I've ever heard in my life. It's really kind of jazzy, but in a jungle way. That's a crap description, it's too hard to describe. It has to be heard really. The Swastika Eyes remixes do sound Surrender-like, but most of the album is really different.
Screamadelica is nothing like any of the chems albums. Some tracks are reminiscent (the beth orton tracks, dream on, maybe one too many mornings), but it's much more of a chillout album, soft rock style, but it has electronica bits. The video (of the whole album) is just class, I picked it up for 3 second-hand, totally stunning to watch in the dark.

I wasn't talkin about the sound, but the spirit...
I admit I was thrown off by your comparison of Surrender to XTRMNTR - I wasn't really comparing the two when I originally responded and started spreading the Primal gospel. ;)
I'm not sure where you feel the "spirit" of both records are the same. Maybe it's a matter of opinion. Surrender feels more uplifting, joyful, streamlined - whereas XTRMNTR feels more angry, sinister and hard hitting and at times almost dischordant (like you described, "a world where everything is fast, violent...") I think it was Bobby Gillespie that said Swastika Eyes was a slam against U.S. foreign policy, for example.
Anyway it's really like comparing apples and oranges here. I suppose it's all about your own perception at the end of the day.
I still would love it if the Swastika Eyes remix is on the comp. I think it's an important song especially in light of what's going on in the world. Yeah the comp is being put out for us fans, no doubt about that, but compilations are good for introducing new fans to the Chemical fold. I'm also of the opinion that remixes are a fantastic way to introduce a person to other aritsts they never heard before.

The release will likely be marketed as a comp or a retrospective. (I'm guessing) The bonus cd is just that, it's a limited edition thingie attached but it can still work to help bring new fans into the fold. I don't have any doubts that a Chemical newbie could learn a thing or two from the fan choices on the bonus disc.

I agree with you, and I'll develop more my point of view...
That's the point. For me, SURRENDER, XTRMNTR and GET READY (from NO) has something common. Not the sound obviously (except the vocals sometimes ), but I don't know how to define it, but there is something VERY STRONG on these records. Something fast, someting PURE.
And I'll go further : I was reading LEVIATHAN from Paul Auster when I discovered XTRMNTR and GET READY, and between the book and the CD, it was the same thing. The book was written as fast as possible.
It's hard to explain. I'm going to kill myself. See you tomorrow !
