Stupid Coachella..... I almost want to go........ Not sure why, but the more I look at the lineup, the better it looks.

No, I think the majority of the people on their are total tools. I dunno, just been listening to a lot of music lately and it just got me excited about the idea of seeing a bunch of bands I don't know that much about.

And I've been grooving on Massive Attack heavily lately. And Scissor Sisters.

Yeah, I've heard good things about their live act and I really like their debut album. Fantastic, kitschy mix of the Beegees, 70's-era Elton John, with a hint of Prince, a cover of Pink Floyd and a whole lot of teh ghey!

Total brokeback style, but it really works.

From Sunday alone though, I'd like to see Infadels, The Dears, Jamie Lidell, The Magic Numbers, Metric, Mylo, Gnarls Barkley, Mogwai, Matisyahu, Scissor Sisters, Bloc Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Massive Attack, and Tool. And there are a few others I've heard good stuff about.

I mean, I'm not passionate about many of those groups, but it IS a decent lineup.

Another greatest hits cd from a dance band. I think that nearly all of the so called dance 'super groups' have a greatests hits cd now or something simular.

Where did irishfan read there would only be 5 dates again? I hopeing for a london show in that case.

With regards to the helmets, I think in the D.A.F.T dvd that they are not wearing them and you can make out there faces. I really dont know why they wear them though?

yeah coachella promoters have confirmed it is a full live show. as for other tour dates daft punk management have said to electric picnic music festival promoters that there are only planning 5 or so dates worldwide. they said that there would be one for every continent and that would be it

where did you find this bundle of info? .......ive been checking frequently lately for any new news on daft punk and about any chances of touring other then coachella.

off the promoter of the electric picnic festival they have been harassing daft punks management to get them to play but they said no this year as their one european date will not be in ireland. probaly france

I would really hope they consider to go more then 5 dates over 5 continents.....that a very crappy thing to do.

as for the reason for the robot helmets..........according to wikipedia :

wikipedia Escribi:

The duo always appear in publicity shots, interviews and music videos as robots. "We did not choose to become robots", Bangalter once explained. "There was an accident in our studio. We were working on our sampler, and at exactly 9:09 a.m. on September 9, 1999, it exploded. When we regained consciousness, we discovered that we had become robots." Very few photos of the faces of the duo exist

lol, i remember reading about the explosion in the studio before. I wonder how much those masks are worth and if there ever be sold on ebay. There is a daft punk table that can be purchased from habitat thats quite cool.

UUUuummm... that explosion nonsense is a load of bollocks (BTW)

they wear masks for photo shoots because they don't want to be annoyed on the street my fans wanting autographs.

I highly doubt that their robot masks are gonna be up for grabs.

They cost millions to make and I'm quite sure they still use 'em.

I wouldn't mind 1 of those tables though :D

5 gigs, 5 continents? Does this mean there's hope for them visiting South Africa? Please oh please oh please

Even though i probably wont be able to see any of these 5 concerts.... i really hope these concerts pan out well for them. Im sure they wont have a problem selling tickets, but im worried about the performance part. They havent played many live performances at all during their career and havent done it in about more then 5 years ago ( from what I know of). And Maybe, if they do well and get a good response from fans, they wont be so sheepish about doing live acts and actually plan a real tour.

and sorry to brake it to you android.....my guess is they wont be visiting your continent at all .......my guess is that North America (coachella), South America, Europe, Asia, and The Auzi's will get to see daft punk. :( ill cross my fingers for ya though!!!!!!!

android, do any bands at all come to South Africa? When bands announce world tours, Africa and South America always seem to miss out. Surely there must be interest, but maybe its judged by the record companies as not sufficient?? :?

another reason i say they haven't toured is that they person who did there visuals basically ran off with all there visual material.

I have heard that Thomas has had some ear problems in the past,

I don't know how true that is but if so, he's obviously better now :)

Pshhhh... how can South America take priority to South Africa?

Krikee! Africa's the largest continent! I mean what's happening in South America? Tequila and ???

And yes, we do have a scene down here. Just about every1's had a visit,

except the Chems (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

Carl Cox has been several times, Basement Jaxx graced us in 2004 :D

Fat Boy Slim's gonna be playing soon. Mylo's been, Snoop Dogg's on his way. Josh Winx, Faithless, Armand Van Helden, Deep Dish, Paul Johnson...

The list goes on.

Did I mention the spliff is plentiful? :D
