They're not subscribed to iTunes. They don't like the idea of being bound to a contract. The thing that is bugging is me is whether to purchase the £40 disc box, released on the 3rd of Dec. It's got a lot of shit in it, but will it be in the shops? For Cheaper? or is this limited edition? :'(

Nice to see you back Mr. iguana. I haven't posted here for some time either and I might resume my slumber but I just have to stop by and say that I'm really interested in this move after the very silent summer.
I hear there might be a "normal cd release" coming up early next year. I have also read differing views into what you are purchasing if you go on the digital download track. Some say the download only includes the first cd:
15 STEP
BODYSNATCHERS
NUDE
WEIRD FISHES/ARPEGGI
ALL I NEED
FAUST ARP
RECKONER
HOUSE OF CARDS
JIGSAW FALLING INTO PLACE
VIDEOTAPE
Whereas if you get the BOX OF EVERYTHING you will also get the second cd worth of tracks:
MK 1
DOWN IS THE NEW UP
GO SLOWLY
MK 2
LAST FLOWERS
UP ON THE LADDER
BANGERS AND MASH
4 MINUTE WARNING
These sources will surely explain things further:
http://www.greenplastic.com/
http://www.mortigitempo.com/
and oh.. radiohead ftw !
AND to answer to your question, it at least seems like the BOX is _only_ purchaseable on their own distribution channel (perhaps W.A.S.T.E).

Yeah, they new album is only available via their website, you can pre-order it now and buy it as a digital download, or buy the limited edition box set for around $80... Radiohead has no record label contract and rarely do any publicity. I think this is a wonderful concept! I can't wait to download their album!! (I think I'm gonna pay about a dollar per song...) This is just as good of a concept as Prince's free album giveaway.

MMMM i've heard reckoner and nude...but your point is certainly valid. I've not particulaly liked the last two albums (some good songs but not consistently great) but ok computer is one of my fav albums ever and the bends is also very good so i'll always check them out, great band.

This is a brilliant idea.
The fact that such a huge band as Radiohead decided to sell (or give away) their latest album themselves is a sign of the times. The major record labels must have cringed when they heard about it.
I heard that Madonna and Nine Inch Nails were highly likely to do the same with their own future releases.
The Discbox is quite exepensive to me, though. I think I'll go with the digital download and give something like £10 for it.

Really? See I think their earlier albums were brilliant but nothing like what they managed to create with Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail to the Theif. It's music that you wont get straight away, but if you're mind is open, and you let your mind adapt naturally then it all falls perfectly into place. Never force a Radiohead album on yourself, you have to WANT to listen to it.
On a news front, W.A.S.T.E who handle the merchandise side of things have recieved a lot more orders than they expected.

Yeah well maybe £10 is a bit too generous, not to mention that I plan to buy the normal CD edition when it actually comes out.. I was thinking in euros, new CDs usually cost €15 here, that is to say ±£10. So yeah for just the digital download maybe I'll give the amount they would have asked for it on iTunes..
