So I don't know if anyone noticed on Facebook and Twitter, that Lincoln Hall in Chicago showed "Don't Think" and bumped the shit out of it on their massively beautiful sound system.... Well, here's my experience.
I arrived a few minutes late, but could hear the bass when I walked in the door. Lincoln Hall is a beautiful venue that is a renovated movie theater. So you walk into a separate bar area. They were playing the film on TVs, and Do It Again was playing. I busted inside and ordered a Cuervo and Tonic. Immediately noticing the quality of the sound.
I've been listening to the CD version all week long, and I almost began to forget about all the little edits. The shrinking of songs etc....
I won't be too wordy, because we've all seen the film and heard the CD, but hearing it in a concert venue was absolutely far beyond seeing it in the movie theaters. It sounded fucking incredible.
The CD quality is very enjoyable, but it's clear when you step into a place bumping the sound the way Lincoln Hall was, that the Brothers put all of their focus into the film audio.
I got the traditional chills and the occasional teary eyes during the screening. And I didn't run into any trashcans.
It begs the question, as hard as it would've been to execute, should that first initial launch that was only in one theater in major cities, should've been done at small concert venues where you were allowed to dance, and had to REALLY speak over the sound?
Regardless, if you know a friend that works at a concert venue with a projector, I think your goal should be convincing the owners to show the film.
God it feels good to be a Brother.
