Yeah, I thought it was interesting too. They are not much alike though. It seems much to... overproduced. The only similarity I even noticed was the "Din-din--dinoo" sitar.

Doing a cover of The Reel is a hell of a tall order. I admit I was scared to listen because I love The Reel so much and the comments in this thread are a bit daunting. Really I don't think it's mind blowingly terrible or anything, - just is a weird, goofy sped up take on my most favorite song ever. That doesn't mean I'm going to be rushing out to purchase this. But I think this is quite brave, actually. The song does seem a bit glossy in production but I also think a lot of work went into making this. It does sort of have a video-gamey, poppy sounding element to it. I can't imagine very many people would have the balls to cover The Reel so perhaps imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

Don't take it too serious, it's just an anime soundtrack after all.
