after a while you just get an ear for it.

Anyone else here get the Korg DS-10 for Nintendo DS? It's amazing and well worth the money. It's funny to think that even too buy the Korg DS and a Nintendo DS it's still cheaper than many shite software synths. Needless to say I am enjoying it...

I tried it for like 30secs today, on a friend's DS. It seemed complex and complete, but I gotta try it better.

I finally got Korg Legacy Analog Edition. The MonoPoly is sweeeeeeet. Also bought a Korg nanoKey today. Definitely not a must-have... Quite lame actually

Is it the vsti version of the legacy package? I have it too and it's superb! The polysix is indeed a impressive analog (digital) instrument and fun to play with.

The monopoly you've mentioned, is this hard or software?

@Bosco: you said "Hows it hanging Csar?"... what did you mean by that?

played with the nano again tonight (for testing all the monopoly patches) and it's actually pretty cool. I even manage to play better on it than on a real keyboard.

I'm gonna use it to trigger scenes on Ableton.

i think that's how smd do it, from that video is they use a microKontrol and have the keys assign sequences on ableton, that's pretty fun, totally need to get a label maker or some tape that can be written on..

yes, that's what gave me the idea. I could use one octave per song, plus the CCs for something else (effects ? sample trigger ? ...)

What I've been messing around with is that you can assign a key to a knob so that when you hit a key it turns the knob from 0% to 100%. So what you could do is assign, say "Send A" to be echo/reverb/etc so that when you hit the key it sends the track through effects so you can trigger it for a split second, sorta do a chem bros live thing of echoing a snippet of vocals or whatever

yeah, I'm working on a live and already have a reverb and a delay on Return A and B :)

But I'm selling my BCR2000 and TR 505 to get another controller. I'm still looking for the holy grail of controllers for the live (ie : portable, pretty cheap without being crap, faders, infinite knobs and transport buttons). The CME Bitstream seems to satisfy a lot of these expectations, but it's expensive, and no infinite knobs :( ... For the Studio I'm trying to get an Hades Music VMC 207. But it's very hard to find because it was only distributed in Spain and Hades Music doesn't exist anymore...

i kinda wanna see if I could make a super-ghetto set up for ableton live. since you can assign stuff to keys on the keyboard, i was thinking for fun/cheap it would be to make a set up using a bunch of usb keyboards or mouse scrollers for sliders on the side of my laptop... one of my friend has one of those drawing pads for photoshop and what not, and those make great pseudo Kaoss padds... hmm, ableton set up for under $100?

for under 100$ you can get a nanoPad, with a touchpad. It seems pretty big, and I guess it has the "medium value" feature that's on the PadKontrol (when you press the max and min value at the same time, the middle value is sent.

here's my crack-pot logic: nanokeys cost $50 here. but each usb keyboard would be like $20, maybe $10, if you're lucky. then you could set ranges, so like 'Q' could be a max 'A' could be a middle and 'Z' could be the min on controls. plus, you'll have more keys than 25, even though nano is awesome; if you're after controls tough, I'm telling you usb keyboards are the junky way to go.

needless to say, i am a big fan of every variable being assignable, that's probably why the Nord Modular is my favorite synth. kinda gives it limitless discovery/potential.

my 2000th post w00t! 'bout time...

Yeah but a pc kb feels less intuitive than a synth keyboard.

I didn't like the modular that much. Sure it sounded great, had endless possibilities, but I like having everything, every parameter on a knob that I can turn, not on a submenu or in a software. It felt like using a VST, and I didn't like that :(

Talking about 2000, I sent my MS2kR to a guy that's giving me a Quasimidi Rave-o-lution 309 for it. Will tell you how it is when I receive it.

And I might get either a Novation BassStation Rack or a Doepfer MS404 soon. What would you advise me to get ?
