SO I'm off to Japan for Fuji rock as of next Monday (the 21st).

Anybody care to give me any ideas of what I should do or buy?

My list of things to buy (or try to find) is already mounting with....

Fujirockers DVD

OOC rare Japanese single

Soil & "PIMP" Session albums

Lupin the 3rd remix album (it has FPM and Toshiro Matsura on it)

and any other Chems material I can find that I don't own.

As for things I'm trying to do include go see a pro baseball game, go to tsukuji fish market, sony building, climb Mt. Fuji (again), hit up Ageha or Womb (It sucks because Yellow shut down), Hit up some Izayaki's (Sake Pubs) with some friends, and of course...Fuji ROCK!!!

I wish I had some ideas for you Ryno, but I've never been to Japan. ;)

Hmmm. Buy pocky. Lots and lots of pocky!!

It's going to be great and you're going to have a blast! I bet your friends who've never been before are going to be wide eyed the entire time!

I think it's pretty essential to visit, if not purchase, a pair of used school girl panties from a used panty vending machine.

But thats just my opinion...

Ah Ryno, i’m the one to tell you!

I’ve lived in Tokyo for 4 months and I absolutely LOVE everything about it.

Things in Tokyo you should do:

Go to Harajuku area, next to meji jingomae ( dunno if I write that correctly ), and go on a Sunday if you can. You will see all the dressed up boys and girls that Harajuku is so famous for. Awesome to see. Also, find the 100Yen store. Lots of funny Japanese stuff for 100Yen. That whole street is really wicked. I dunno the name but you cant miss it.

Go to the Tokyo Dome Amusement Park:

http://www.tokyo-dome.co.jp/e/park/

Where they have a huge sickass rollercoaster on top of buildings in the middle of the city!

http://www.coasterfo...Thunder_Dolphin

Ive been on it 22 times, believe me, it’s good :-D

Kamakura is a wicked city close to Tokyo:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamakura,_Kanagawa

It hs really old shrines ( Japanese temples ) and some woman still wear traditional kimono.

And my favourite insiders-tip:

ON A SUNDAY , go to the park “ Yoyogi Koen “

http://www.japan-gui.../e3034_002.html

On Sunday lots of muciscian gather around to make music together and to listen to others people’s music and to perform their own.

U often see big groups of girls practicing their dance routines. It’s really great :-D I dunno if it’s still there but when I was there two years ago this was my hang out spot every Sunday. I even got to know some of the percussionists there and they teached me how to play and I played along with them :-D

Ah, the memories!

If you have any questions about Japan, please ask me, as I am your personal Japan Tourguide :-D

X Jeanie

EAT LOSTS OF SUSHI!!! :-D

Dont forget the famous Bento Box with unidentified fried objects :-D Always an adventure to try and guess wich part of wich animal you are eating!

There are two bars in Ginza called the 300 Bar. As the name suggests everything in there is 300 yen (315) with tax. You buy tickets from the bar and exchange them for any drink or snack/meal. Being a pisshead me I practically lived there on a night. There are 2 one in Ginza 5 chome and one in Ginza 3 chome. I agree with Jeanie the Tokyo Dome area is pretty cool but if you go and see a Baseball game at the Dome try and buy the cheapest tickets as without doubt that stand it has the best atmosphere. Shinjuku is miles better than Roppongi for a night out as well. Bars and food places around Shimbashi good as well.

@ consumer, I got some ideas already planned. lol.

@ whirly, I'm going to buy alot of pocky, sandwiches, and Bento boxes before I get on the train to Naeba/Fuji rock

@ bosco, Well we plan to find the pink district...and then probably get run out by yakuza types...lol. That will probably be the most likely place to find them. If I do find them I'll send a pair to you. LOL.

@ Jeanie, :( the only sunday I'm there is out at Fuji Rock.... which turns into :) when I see J.A.M. (AKA Soil & Pimp Sessions), Seasick Steve, and DatA. That roller coaster looks kick ass! We we're going to see if we could do the Private psychedellic reel experience at space mountain in tokyo disneyland (Idea credited to whirly) but that also looks cool. Yah I know go to Tokyo to do the most western thing there...

@nalaknip, really intrigued by the 300 bar now. Will have to check it out one day. Luckily we're staying in Shinjuku most of the time making nights out a litte simpler. There is one night that we could hit a baseball game at tokyo dome on the monday right after fuji rock....we might then.

@ irish, same here. Jeanie your coming next time......

Currently looking into going to womb on the 1st to see Dusty kid and Takkyu Ishino as well. Big plans. BIG PLANS!

I'm BACK! It was AWESOME!!

Fuji rock:

Underworld, off my head! HUGE Balloons at the end of Born Slippy!

Gogol Bordello at 3am in a medium sized room with 600 crazy people and me in the mosh, brutally awesome!

Richie Hawtin playing a set at 10 am on top of a mountain!

Cribs rocked again

meeting tons of revellers from around the world

Other japanese business:

found (and bought) 14th century sky, My Mercury Mouth, It began In Afrika, Setting Sun, Block Rockin Beats, Electronic Battle Weapon 7, the original Rez/Cowgirl. I love Disc Union now!

Harajuku was legendary. So many cool shops. GO RESCUISM!

Whirly, your Space mountain experiment works extremely well with Saturate.

Can't get the Ponyo theme song out of my head.

Lots of interesting foods, and pocky too!

more with pics and vids later
