(I did a site search but couldn't find anything. Apologies if this has been discussed before.)

So this mash up of Don't Fight It Feel It and Out Of Control keeps popping up in Chems DJ sets. Presumably it was put together by the Chems themselves. Apparently it's been around for years as it has a vinyl release date of October 2007 on Discogs.
Although the 2007 version isn't the same as the one T&E are currently playing out, it sounds professional enough (to me) to have been an earlier version of what they're playing now. If the current version was put together by the brothers, does that mean this white label was quietly released by the bothers too?

Re: the current version of the track, this appears to be it on Soundcloud. Where did this guy get this? Have y'all got this version?
I'm liking the addition of Denise Johnson's "Rama-lama's" and the sound effects from Like A Motorway. Definitely better than the '07 version. How do I get it?

The soundcloud-version is the one i've got on my harddrive for years. I don't remember exactly, but i think i've got this from an upload White Noise did.

edit: or from Ben_J's ftp

This is a fun mystery. I spend some time looking into the 2007 one a while back, couldn't find the time to steal to post about it back then. The 2007 version is unfortunately almost certainly a fake, and a really really clever one at that. My basis for this comes from the fact that at no point does the 2007 version make use of a sound that couldn't be taken from a commercially available recording. For example, at times you can hear Bernard start to sing "Sometimes" but gets cut off just as the loops comes to an end (1:14). All the psychedelic Chems sounds come from various sources like the Spiritualized and Mercury Rev remixes, if you listen at the end you can hear that deep humming drone from the Spiritualized remix in the background. And when the Open Up acid-ish sound comes in you can clearly hear the accompanying beats in the background. I can't place that rising sound that starts playing around :44 in the first build and other places, I'm either missing something or it was generated by the anonymous remixer. But it seems way more likely that an enterprising and clever DJ saw them play the mashup live, took Don't Fight It Feel It, Out Of Control, and a handful of sounds and made a very good recreation of it. It doesn't make sense that The Chemical Brothers would throw together a dubplate using only samples from their released songs - they're sitting on the literal source of all the sounds after all!

That SoundCloud one I haven't heard yet though, and if it's a fake I can't tell! Especially with the rising Open Up acid sound being so clean. Does anyone have footage of them dropping this at a gig? I think that would seal the deal.

Good point WN. I knew this needed someone of your expertise to analyse it.

I'm guessing you've been keeping a bit of distance from the Warehouse Project December footage (so that you can listen to the new album with fresh ears?). Anyway Jump to 12.46 on the clip below. There's about four & a half minutes of it before it starts to mix into the Shepard tone thingy. But it keeps going, and I think it finally mixes out around 18.10. Sounds identical to the Soundcloud to me.

oh ps: I have found an old thread about this from 2006 (thanks to Google rather than the forum search function) HERE. Maybe this is where it was shared before...or maybe not 'cos that was just a rip from an Erol dj set.

Ok, my bad. Thanks Pumisher. I don't think the bootleg vinyl version is as bad as some of those old posts suggest, but would still like to get my hands on the 'correct' version. Sounds like lots of forum people did indeed end up with it on their hard drives. If anyone is able to chuck it on to Mediafire or something like that, I'd be super dope excited.

Thanks - I've been distanced but not by choice, my last semester of school was busier and rougher in more ways than one, I've been dealing with a ton of personal shit (good and bad stuff), and even the easy semester I'm in now has been busy for the first few weeks. I just haven't had the time to stick around here for more than a post or two! The whole story will probably get unloaded in General Bullshit Chat soon, it's approaching a conclusion here. But yeah - that whole "fresh ears" thing is nothing till the album gets announced for real, hoping to catch up soon.

Pum - good on you for all those links, there's still too many corners of Chemical knowledge I haven't caught up on yet. Heck I'm going to have to read the whole forum archive one of these days...

Shhhh. I've been putting one together in my downtime... an alpha/beta/finished version will go live within a year. I'm making a big project out of it.
