my little titbit for the reviews.
Was an amazing gig on thursday as i'm sure the other two nights were also.
The intro for me was really interesting and worked really well for anyone familiar with the live at the Social and Anti-Nazi mix would recognise this as the onset of the Chemical Brothers. It sort of felt nostalgic rather than emense. All the other intros have been better in my opinion at building up antisipation. For example the wirring sound they sometimes use or the longer and my favourite "surrender to the [one]" which always has the crowd really excited especially as this goes on for a couple of minutes before they enter the stage and a couple of minutes when they're behind the equipment, but then that probably lends itself better tog Hey Boy Hey Girl as the start song.
I remember hearing Galvaniz as the intro song back at Rockness and thoughtthis was a strange way to start, like the set cut short but still worked never the less. This time round though it seemed to connect with the crowd a lot more better. Really liked the acid effect they put on it troughout and i noticed they used that synth sound which they usually use at the very end of Get Yourself Hgh going into Galvanize, it's a really nice sound.
Shame that they have dropped Get Yourself High from the set but the vocal drop with Do It Again is always fun, especially with the new funny looking clown. The same goes for EBW 7 which is amazing but has been dropped but the vocal has been kept and dropped over "......(fill in gap).......".
EBW 8 was something special which really had the crowd going whch i found quite a surprise as although it works for me personally i didn't really see it being a crowd pleaser as such (i.e Block Rockin' Beats. Galvanize), Much like Nude Night it was fun to see people going Dur Dur, Dur Dur Dur, Dur, Dur Dur Dur Dur Dur, Dur...etc
Wasn't expecting Nude Night at all and was the first time i've heard it in their live sets (Turnmils excluded). Much like Morning Lemon it was a little treat and i was hoping that they would play a checky sample during hey Boy Hey Girl (like at brixton last year)
Sort of seems strange to have Chemical Beats at the end of there sets (as i know this is how they used to end sets) but haven't heard it any different. Also a personal highlight for me was to hear The Sunshine Underground as their last song as this is an epithanol song (may have invented my own word there) and finishes the night of i style. I'm hoping they continue with this for a while then return to The Psychedelic Reel for old times sake, but not keep it perminant.
My main point that i was going to make was that for the past year/ year and a half their live sets seem to be a lot more choppy rather than being extended versions of songs, like how i remember them in 2004/2005. Not that this is bad, you get a lot more material for your money in a sense.
anyway that's my 2cents
