Hey, I am new to the electronic dance scene...well the danceable electronic scene. I am really into IDM and just recently got into House, Acid, Trance, and all that. I'm 17 and I can't find anyone to go to to this all ages show. I questioned a few people, they all said "No way am I paying for techno". They are all into alt rock and can't enjoy themselves anywhere else. Anyways...
My question is, Can you have fun going to a rave/dance party alone, not knowing anyone?

Yes, I believe a person can, but it depends on what kind of person you are and where you're going.
I know for me, if I went on my own I'd feel... quite awkward not knowing anybody else out there. I've had a dancing/clubbing/going out partner for so long I can't imagine things any other way. I'm a bit shy on my own, really.
But just from observing, when I've been out and about I've seen plenty of people on their own and they do just fine - they get lost in the music, they wander up to people and talk about whatever, just soaking up the scene. I think you'll find the atmosphere at raves makes it easier for people to befriend each other, if even just for the night (that would be the ecstacy talking, probably! ;) ) It can be an energetic yet quite relaxed atmosphere when it comes to the social aspects of the scene. Anyway, if you really want to go to this rave, then you should. At least try it once, work your way into it, just to see if you like it even though you're on your own. Who knows, maybe you'll meet people who go to these types of things often and you might make a few friends to go along with next time.

In all the raves I went to, I've never seen anyone get into a physical scuffle let alone get beat up.
