i'll sing the pump electric (x 8)

("Do it again" always surrounding the voice)

Oh my god what have I done?

All I wanted was a little fun

Got a brain like bubble gum

[Do It Again lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

Blowing up my cranium.

Turn of my ro-botic brain.

All my thoughts are all the same (all insane)

Paint my face and bang my drum. Throw my bone up to the sun. Bang my drum and paint my face. Pump my cave to hyperspace.

I don't care about the tv or radio edit - the one on the album's certainly i sing a(/of/the) funk electric.

Lyrics websites are meaningless, because any retard can post them.

I don't know how many incorrect lyrics I've seen, but it's nearly as many as correct lyrics.

Wanted to clarify something that, unless I've missed it, hasn't been discussed yet...

"Paint my face and bang my drum/

throw my bone up to the sun/

bang my drum and paint my face/

from my cave to hyperspace"

Those lyrics are a reference to 2001: A Space Odessey. If you don't get the reference, go rent the movie now and enjoy several hours of mind-fucking brilliance.

Hmmm. That's an interesting observation! There is the iconic ape throwing the bone up into the sky in 2001. Oh and the monolith. The great monolith!!

Here kids, if you don't know what Crotor's on about:

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=sdoA3AJ6zGE

Bone action comes along around the 5 minute mark.

On a side note speaking of 2001, the theme song is so brilliant! We have that song and we used to play it really early in the morning to prank our roommates and whatever annoying houseguests they used to have squatting in our livingroom. Nothing like blaring that at the wee hours - made the unwanted folk scatter like coakroaches as they got the hint it was finally time to leave.

Thanks Whirly...

That showed y'all the "bone" and the "cave," now here's the "hyperspace:"

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=m6yAEvnoCPs

All that back in 1968... Vegetable Vision ain't got nothin' on Kubrick!

But anyway, those lyrics make for a nice little "modern primitive" type reference, playing off of the synergy of futurism (electronics, synthesized noises) and primitivism (communal dance, psychotropic "enlightenment") that is so fundamental to the appeal of electronic dance music.

Now I feel it is my duty to take this opportunity to spread the gospel of IRYCRT2001:ASO. That is, International Record Your Cat Reacting to 2001: A Space Odessey.

never liked the film - don't jump on me - will explain my reasons later - btw have u folks seen the floyd echoes sync with the film's best scenes? it was pretty famous. i gotta see that before the film - it's got the best shots and echoes to go with it - it's fuckin freaky.

kubrick wanted floyd's music for the original score.

^ Yeah, I see what you mean. The movie isn't for everyone. It's looooooooooong, but I feel it is iconic in many ways, a piece of cinemtatic history. I saw it once when I was 16 or so, and attempted to watch it again later on when I was around 17 or 18. I couldn't get through it, then again I was incredibly stoned and drunk at the time so that explains why I had a hard time sitting through 2001.

"let's turn this thing electric"

i may be wrong, but i think that's it.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this place. I love the Chemical Brothers, and I live in America. So, unlike the UK, there's about a total of 100 of us here in the States who actually like 'em. It's sad, but that's what happens when you live in the wrong country.

Anyways, I love Do It Again! There are two versions of lyrics right? The radio edit's goes something like "I've seen it pumped electric" but the original mix goes "let's turn this thing electric". I dunno which one I like more but the song sure rocks! ^^;

Hi CyberFlash - there's a fair amount of us Stateside that like the Chems. ;)

You are right, there are 2 versions of Do It Again with the changed lyrics - you got things switched up though. "Let's Turn This Thing Electric" is the final cut that's on the regular albums and singles. The other version was the original that was first playing out on radio shows in the UK (still have that Pete Tong rip on my hard drive - and I still can't figure out of it's Seen the funk electric or Seen it pump electric.) Funk/Pump Electric was also on the promos.

Or something. That probably didn't make a whole lot of sense.
