I think the people who've held out and waited deserve their own We Are The Night Discussions thread!
Who will be the first? ;)

Due to the matter of lacking in time right now to write Whirly/Jeanie/Joslyn/Jack-like monster posts some short notes from my side. It's a fooking smart and elaborate album. Yes that's what it is. So different in styles (love these beats), dark, bright, hard, light, ironic, funky junky, acidy.... .
But there are some minor things i would have changed a little considering the track order and length. Why the heck is Saturate just 4:49 minutes long??? (and some others too). It could have been kept how it was made as EBW version. I miss a longer intro for it (this long piano loop was just perfect). At least the whole album could have been a bit longer imo (with the same tracks).
But all in all, wooo, yeah, uh! Full of life, energy and themselves!!!

@stash: Album came out here in Europe today. They normally list albums as the day before the States but most stores stick 'em on the shelves the friday beforehand. Good for me and Csar. And any other Europeeps who've been waiting.
I'll second what Csar said up there and add that the full version is so much more polished and full of depth than the leak that's goin round the net. Can't wait to stick this on the Big Sound System at work tomorrow.
A side note: I bought the Klaxons album today as well but it really doesn't stand a chance of being listened to today. Or tomorrow....maybe Sunday....but not likely....

Whirly - are u for real?
Splendid idea! I'd like to hear from people who've been hanging on for the real release too. This is gonna be fun now. The real thing. not shitty mp3s for a chemical fuckin brothers album.
Release here is Monday, the 2nd, I visited the store yesterday, and hopefully will mange to take a new album poster for myself soon. i recently lost my 10yrs of blockrocking beats singles poster with the black n white theme in a house shifting and that was a rad poster! the new one i'm hoping will be verry trippy - monday it is! bring it on - monday blues! ;) can't fuckin wait to pick up two cds as soon as they land in my town!
on a side note i just heard the jap version's extras the first time, and i've got mixed feelings like every first listen - more later.
now comes the cd vs mp3 superbattle.

JACK!! See the What's Going On? thread. The album won't hit shelves here unless a record store is lucky and grabs hold of an import to sell. BUT Do It Again single is available. Tough to find, but it's here! I drove to Los Angeles on Thursday night and saw bunches of Do It Again at Amoeba records. If your bro is still in Los Angeles have him make a pit stop to Amoeba and have him pick you up a copy!

I just checked my email this morning and I got this letter from stash's step dad which I'll post a snippet of a little bit further down. All of you who came to visit me here in California got the opportunity to meet him - but for those who don't know him, a little back ground: he's a cool cat, quite spazzy, in the 50+ age range, a highly skilled jazz guitarist, a jazz purist to the 'nth degree: he gigs, he writes music, and he's got a music degree along with his psychology degree AND on top of it all he's a high school psychologist. My husband and I have been trying to turn him on to the Chems for 7 years now. But like I said he's a jazz purist so it's been tough. We gave him a copy of We Are The Night and told him to listen, if only just to hear the high quality production values but he's been hesitant because this type of music is not his normal thing. But anyway, I get this in my inbox this morning:
stash's step dad wrote wrote:
OK, I got out of bed at about 10:00 this morning. The first thing I
did was turn on the coffee pot and woke up the computer. iTunes was up
and I am now playing Chemical Brothers. You two have got to understand
that I am a jazz head and am really out of the pop culture circuit,
unless someone like Sasha is poking fun of it. All I really know is how
to play anything I hear on guitar and of course, School Psychology.
BUT, You know what??? I really LIKE this Chemical Brothers album. I
think they played Salmon Dance at our recent high school prom!
I am very into my own space now, because I have a goal to get into a
studio and make my own CD sometime this year. I am TRYING to compose and
I need space and privacy to do it, but instead, I feel like I am
decomposing!!! This Chemical Bros. is giving me some ideas, believe it or
not!
I'll catch you all later on, sometime! You know, I am really liking
the Chems. I think I'll listen to more of it.
