Whoop!

Just put a deposit down on my ticket. Handy way to pay for those that are interested, €80 down and 2nd payment of €80 at the end of May, with final payment at the end of July.

If we have another Indian Summer it'll be a perfect weekend!

And Bwtgeyes, this festival is best known in Ireland for the great vine at it,older crowd than Oxegen, friendly relaxed atmosphere. But this line up is regarded as its best ever.

I guess I'm really looking forward to seeing Arcade Fire, DJ Shadow, Trentemoller, Midlake, Mogwai, Kalkbrenner, Charlatans, Dave Clarke, Boys Noize, The most out of the line up. I'm not mad into PJ Harvey, Sinead O'Connor or Pulp but I am interested in seeing them perform live.

As you said though, the whole buzz there is just so different to the mess that is oxegen, I crashed the party 4 years ago and absolutely loved it. The only thing to come close to the feel of it was Sziget in Budapest(who also have a stunning line-up this year) except that almost everyone speaks the same language at EP!

I'm really looking forward to this as I've had a few bad months that I can finally put behind me and focus on enjoying a weekend with the Chems. Oh the joy!!!

This looks awesome, you guys!

I would totally love to see OMD (hmm I wonder if they'd sound the same as they did when I listened to them loads in the 80's)!

Hiya Whirly, I reckon they will.OMD have continued going on and off in some guise or other but this is the original line up.
Charcoal think you should get PJ's latest cd Let England Shake, very good even if it IS all about war.And even pick up Pulp's greatest hits (going cheap in HMV) lots of great songs I think you may like it.
We're staying in one of the VIP campsites at EP this year, said feck it we'll do it with a bit of luxury (otherwise known as we're getting old!!)
Really looking forward to it.Apart from listening to Further have steered clear of all the YouTube clips so that I'll be seeing all the new visuals for the first time.Very tempted though.

I really should go there. I'll see what I can arrange with my Irish contact here. It'd be great.
Why is it so late in the year? Isn't it already bloody cold (kind of) in Ireland in early September?
love is all.

In Ireland we have two seasons.June and winter.
Seriously tho, previous years have been ok.Reason its on so late is that EP is a relatively new festival (7 ish years old?) and they didn't exactly have a great choice of free dates to choose from.Where would you be travelling from Boy?
Oxegen is on early July and last couple years there were very wet.Last Sunday here in Dublin was 23C so prepare for all eventualities.
Another saying in these parts. If you don't like the weather, wait a minute.

love is all.

Yeah Dublin is roughly 80 miles away from Stradbally which is the village nearby the site.Apart from the main stage there are two big tents for live music and a whole host of other stuff going on.Some folk bring their kids with them too.All adds up to a very friendly easy going crowd.Check out electricpicnic.ie if haven't already.Capacity is 30,000 or so they say.

I have been there (to Dublin)in 1991. I was 19 at the time. A girlfriend and I went for a few days. I am not ashamed to admit I was swooning over the boys and their accents! ;)

Hey, I've got PJ on the download, will report back on this. As for Pulp, I have their album 'Different Class', but haven't heard much since then, will search up some of that too.
I'm steering clear of all the YouTube videos and too. Got Hanna OST playing a lot lately, along with a skip of other Chems favourites to keep me ticking over. Chems are always a summer soundtrack this last 6-7 years.

Electric Picnic has been thankfully blessed with good weather over the years. I think there has only been one year where it rained over the first two days. Generally good weather arrives during important points in the school term, i.e. Back to School (September), Mock Exams (late march/early april) and State/End of Year Exams (June). If the kids are stressed and indoors, we can go outside in this country!
