CWU ain't the best chemical brothers album IMO, i'd always prefer another one. nevertheless, i listen to it regularly and discover new elements and think it's better than most of the stuff out there. favourite one: Test

as well, an excellent moment is the rail-rhythm in Pioneer Skies
love is all.

Yes, for me PTB is the failed trial of continuation the CWU album. I know, You say that PTB is not continuation because it sound very different and freshy. I don't know. I have heard PTB a few times from premiere and now i don't listen to this since 2 months. It hasn't anything, that would be interesting for me :'( Zero of this magical touch, wchich could be feel on CWU. You know. Every album of Chems was very different, but PTB is too similar to CWU...ohh and the vocalizes :? , and this similarity is bad and boring to me.

the only track that sounds like it could have come from the CWU era on PTB is Come Inside. That is it.

...by the way, I am noticing a great deal of chatter on the other music boards that I post on about Believe. Many people have recently been blown away when hearing Believe for the first time in mix sets and when going out at the club. You would belibve how many times I have seen a post that starts out like this: "....last night, the dj dropped a track with a vocal that said "i need you to believe" and the place went nuts. What is this track? I have to know".. Luke Fair has ben playing it. Digweed has been playing it at the end of his sets as his encore. Even the people who have heard the track ....that didn't initially like it are starting to really come around to it. I am thinking the same might happen to you. It is happening with other tracks as well. Hold Tight London seems to be a popular one. I believe Chris Fortier has remixed it and it has gotten some club play. The buzz that I thought we would see last month is starting to hit now.

In clubs music sound entirely different, than listening it in home. Don't forget it. I don't go to any clubs. I see the music only by the home listening point of view. BTW in clubs any track sound blowfully and great, even simplest house'y track, because of the climate of live playing ;-)

then there is the problem. you either have a shitty stereo/soundsystem and or shitty headphones. ...and the point I was making is that Believe is now beeing pointed out as a stand out tune in a club and or mix set. That means out of a whole set of 2 to 6 hours of music.....all tunes being played on the same sound system in the same enviornment, the stand out 7 minutes or so is coming from one tune called Believe.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume all songs sound great in a club, equinoxe - especially if you don't put yourself in a club environment. Sure a club's soundsystem is going to make things sound larger than life. But when a crap song is being played it can sound like satan is dropping a big shit right there on the dancefloor...

yes....example would be a tune called Believe..............by Cher.

club soundsystems.......they can make a difference though. In Atlanta, we have some decent clubs with decent sound systems. I just recently realized that they don't even compare to other clubs though. The sound systems I heard in Miami a couple weeks ago were insane. They really made the music come to life. The systems game the tunes volume and depth. The highs were crystal clear and you could almost see them as they would pan from on area of the club to antoher. The bass was so hard, yet so clean. I only wish ATL had systems like that. They really can make a huge difference.

I rate the soundsystem at stealth in nottingham, before going to this club id never really noticed the quality of the set up in a club, in many clubs its just loud bass that can ruin and not do the other parts of the track any justice. But at stealth it is so clean and real, close your eyes and you think u can touch the music, (if u get wat i mean ;-) ) wenever a totally dope minimal jacking head nodding house tune comes on it really emphasises the groove of the track, amazing...

i want to go to stealth right now! }:-)

I hear very little of CWU in PTB. Surface to Air, perhaps, could have fit into Pioneer Skies' place on CWU, but PTB is a very, very different album. As for your beloved breakbeats, check out the title track from Come With Us: one of the most massive breaks, plus the big-beat style from DYOH.

PTB is a very different creature and I'm still not sure what I really think of it. I definetly love it, but it is so different that I find it hard to place it within the Chemical Brothers pantheon of records. It really feels like a break, a departure to me. For Chemical 6 they could really go anywhere now.

CWU is one of the greatest albums ever. I purchased it last september and i would guess that ive listened to the uninterrupted whole of it over 8 times, and ive probably spent over a day and a half just listening to stuff from it, in fact just yesterday i was listening to it. PTB on the other hand, i have listened to all of merely twice and it hasnt found its way into my cd-player for over a month. CWU just has this feeling that you cant find many other places, it just makes me happy, high, i guess(i wouldn't know). I cant really particularly describe what makes it so special, but if you've listened to it once, you know. No other album ive listened to feels this magical.
