Since I can't go to Aquascalientes, Mexico with my friends the first two weeks of May because of a Pharmacy entrance exam, I'm beginning to think of a solo trip to Coachella. Just contemplating if I can get away with 11 days sleeping in my car in parking lots without getting arrested. (Not to mention if I can properly drive 2000 miles each way on just a handful of hours of sleep each night in my car.)

I need everyone who is going to convince me that this will be the best thing to happen to my summer and worth driving 8 hours a day for 8 out of 11 days gone. :D Must see Chems....

Well, I have an $1100 loan that is due next month and I currently owe another $1500 that needs to be paid shortly (incl. my completely maxed-out credit card). Thankfully, my income tax cheque ($2200) will arrive in the next few days, but I need to use most of it to pay off (some of) the above debts.

Plus, upcoming exams mean I may have to cut down my hours at work for a payperiod or so.... and car payments.... damn......

Still, I'm going to see what I can come up with. Maybe not San Fran, but Coachella is looking possible, if I sleep in the car. Need to find some place to shower at least every second day, though.... 7 days of stench won't endear me to many in Indio....

Sounds like you've got some bills!! But your tax return sounds sweet.

I would do almost anything to go to the N. California show with New Order. My coworker (who is going to Coachella on Saturday) is a massive New Order fan and she likes the Chems too. She was willing to book flights and tickets for us to go (she was going to "finance" a trip for me) but it would've been a little more than either of us could afford. Plus there's the time issue, that would suck to have a delayed flight plus, I don't want to be completely wiped out for Coachella. This old girl needs all the energy she can muster, hanging in the desert all day is a test of endurance. ;)

'stash, my brother-in-law and I have a room real close to the venue at the Motel 6 for Friday and Saturday night. Although I know you're young and totally up for it and are willing to crash out in your car, the mom in me hates the thought of anyone sleeping in their car out in the dusty desert - so if you need a place to crash and/or wash up, the offer is open to you. Just keep in touch and we'll work it out.

As with previous Coachella fests, the weariness of the day is swept away as soon as the Chems start their set!

The next day is when the pain sets in! X-D

Still need to conserve as much as I can throughout Saturday, I'm not as young as I used to be. Don't worry Nerdcore, you can help me find some shade!!

... and the next day's pain goes away when New Order, Prodigy and Nine Inch Nails fire off ... (if I go to all the effort of coming out there, you better believe I'm seeing Day 2)

Whirly, thank you very much for the offer; we'll see what happens. I figure that, including the payments which are due on the exact days of Coachella, I need to save about $1700-2000 in the next month to be able to go, but I'm going to give it a good effort. Hopefully it'll turn out, as I know the Brothers will put on a show worthy of my entire summer fun budget.
