But another Greatest Hits!?!? The last one was 2004 and if anyone likes them enough, they would aleady own at least their first Hits package? Am I right or wrong!?

Sometimes a 'best of' says 'I need some money' or 'we can't make any more decent music'.

Basically it's a promotion tool for their 10 year anniversary tour their doing this autumn (it seems more money is made from gigs nowadays than record sales). PLus some of the tracks are 'rare' B sides apparently. The last Best Of they did was because they were bored and needed money, but with Soundboy Rock just been out (which i liked) i dont think it's coz their outa ideas. Especially as both of em have solo projects as well. But with the Lovebox weekender, they certainly seem like they are trying to boost their income!

I'm not knocking them at all, and they still rank high in my top artists. I'm also well aware of their 10th anniversary edition cd with rare mixes, I was just a little baffled by the almost identical re-release of the standard greatest hits package from 2004, as great as it was, and probably even better than the latest one due to the fact it has a quality full length Live show from Brixton (come on Tom n Ed!). I think the Lovebox weekender is a great way of showcasing up and coming music which they like and shows they are forward thinking musicians, and I think they have sold their music to enough adverts to keep the benjamins rolling in! I like Groove Armada, but was shocked that another hits package was put together almost mirroring the last release.

Yeah, tis the season for the Best Of's, Greatest Hits, etc. This time a year, new releases are kind of slow but with the holidays coming up, there's money to be had in releasing Best Of albums. Stocking stuffers...

I've always kind of viewed Best Of's or Greatest Hits (or in the Chems' case Singles) releases as a landmark in an artist's career. A respective retrospective. I can understand needing the money, everyone's got to eat, but I just don't get the need for Best Of's etc. being released every couple of years.

Dunno if I'm stating the obvious or not, but the Chems 93-03 is also being put out again as a "Holiday Gift Pack" - the CD, Bonus CD and DVD as a single package.

I think there are parts on the new album that are some of the best work they have done, 'Love Sweet Sound' for example is a great vocal house tune, 'Drop That Thing' is also a good sleezy house track, and of course, love it or hate it 'Song 4 Mutya' is a perfect slice of pop imo.

I still only have the first Groove Armada album which I think is a good listen, thinking of getting up to date with their stuff but its just more music to find time to listen to!!

Re Greatest Hits, it'll be worse when they're dead - Elvis has 'new' compilation cds out every xmas!!

Yeah, they have gone a slightly different direction, not for everyone but fair play for trying something new, they will always be one of my faves! :-)

I do like the new stuff, especially 'the girls say'.

Apparently GA are leaving their record label so i bet with both the new best of and 10 yr anniversary CDs the label just wanted everything they could get whilst they had the chance!

Are they leaving are they? Oh right, this can sometimes be a good turning point for artists. Who are they going to now?

Huge Groove Armada fan, going to see them in Glasgow Barrowlands this Saturday (could possibly be the best gig EVER) and then going down to Brighton to see them the following Saturday YIPPEE!

I think this new double album will actually be far superior to 2004's best of. I always thought it strange that they actually left off that compilation some of their genuine best tracks but apparently it was the record company that pretty much chose the track listing for that album and they chose the famous ones over others.

With this new double album Tom and Andy have chosen everything and the tracks you have heard before like Chicago and others have been remastered and slightly remixed so it should be interesting. There's a lot of stuff I haven't heard so I'm really looking forward to it.

GA have had a new lease of life this year and apparently an album of new material plus a GA movie are in the works for next year.

If you've never seen GA live you have to check them out. They exist much more as a live band than the Chems do I think in that the album versions of GA's tracks go nowhere near capturing the energy and atmosphere of the live versions. The live version of Fogma by GA is still for me the greatest piece of dance music ever written.

If you go to www.groovearmada.com and go to the bloggs tom says in one of them;

"Then we're footloose and fancy free and looking for a new home.

Are you thinking of taking the traditional record label route?

Probably not, I think. Having been on a label for ten years and having benefited from their occasional wisdom, expertise and investment, we might look at doing things differently. Labels are still the best way to break new bands, but I think once you've got yourself to a certain level, you don't necessarily need them. Actually, you know how I talked about a Russian oligarch in a recent blog? Well I can't go into any more details, but bizarrely that might actually happen! It's not Abramovich though."

Interesting - rich guy take over just like a football club! Uneasy feeling of music gone totally corporate! Guess thats nothing new. Still loving them though, going to see them in manchester a week on friday!!!

For those who like their old school funk and soul, Tom from GA did the basement show on 1Xtra. Lovely lovely tunes!

I like what they said there about the labels and being about breaking artists to the population.

As for GA themselves, I liked their stuff up to Lovebox. Vertigo was a big album, that heck I just listened to last week (It's good album for me and studying). Hello Nightclub had it's big parts. Lovebox was alright, it was a little sparse at times but I still enjoyed it (though it also involves a few memories of me and my ex but it's not necessarily bad ones). I never really got into their new even while listening to it at work when it came out.

I love the remix that Akasha did on Pre 63. start really jazzy and into really fast paced spaced out funk. Reminds me alot of the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack at points (Animé)

Lovebox is my fave, maybe because it reminds me of my first love n all that jazz, or just because it's got some of he best tracks they have done. Purple Haze, Groove Is On, Tuning In, Madder, Tuning in and the fantastic underated 'Easy'.
