Has anyone tried either the Roland Juno 106 or Korg MS2000 ?

I have both, well technically I have the microKorg which is the same engine but less controls. It really depends on your usage. I would probably go for the ms2000 if this is your first synth since you're going to get a lot more styles and sounds out of it. The Juno is good for heavy deeps sounds and organ sounds (listen to Hold Tight London), makes some good percussions, makes nintendo noises, random stuff like the out of control riff and live elements. The problem is that when you buy these most the time they have a flaw of the sliders breaking (they age bad) or it being only 4 voices instead of 6 due to aging material (which means you can only hit 4 keys).
The reason I am pushing the ms2000 is you're going to get polyphony which is was the juno is best for, it has trancy noises, has monophonic but it cannot make 303 noises, it's easy as hell to use, and it hasa vocoder so you can make robotic voices while drunk with your friends (nothing is more enertaining the saying "testicle" on full blast). It is thinner but you can fix that by tweaking the built in equalizer. Last but not least, you can run guitars and other things through it to get some crazy sounds. I am trying to figure out what the chems use it on, it's sometimes sounds like the Mono/poly (my personal favorite)... I think in the more recennt versions of surface to air it's that trancy noise before hoops. Also, it is probably a few things in EBW8. I am almost positive it's that short solo before the final course.

Mine too, I fucking love that bit of kit. Wish I had one! HAH!
I bought one several months ago from japan, it makes great noises. I think it makes that one from EBW6 that droning noise, and the surface to air riffs. real specimin of beauty

Btw, could someone of you give me a short briefing and maybe some recommendations of synths and midi-keys for a beginner like me in this field? I can play piano, so i'm interested more in a technical view of things. I'm entertaining the idea to buy an Alesis PhotonX25 or Axiom 25? Is it good, is it bad?

I have an axiom 49 and I gotta say it's pretty nice..
if I had had a bigger budget I'd have gone with the hammer-action nice ones but alas..

I haven't tried it but I really like the Novation synths and also their controllers, and that Xio looks the perfect combo! Bloody good price too, plus not much more for the 49 keyer. Hmmm, actually I'm not so sure... I'd still prefer to get the X-Station in that price range as it seems to have more features.
Hey Biff, how much did the Mono/Poly set you back?

Ok, so I think I'm going for the Juno. I saw at least 2 people selling one in Paris for ~450€. Also if I have enough money left, I'll probably buy a Novation BassStation. Anyone tried that one ?
Also, my mother is buying me what I want for christmas, I think it will be either a BCR2000 or an Evolution UC33 or an E-MU Xboard 49. With all that stuff, I think I'll have enough to have a lot of fun doing sounds (and maybe music, who knows ?)

Original BassStations had reliability problems. Always an issue with proper analog gear, but these were singled out as particularly bad. The rack version was better, and the Super Bass Station was superb.
Rich (Acidchildren) has a UC33, we use it for controlling Ableton Live. It's really nice, I like it 8)

I don't really like endless ones, but it's down to personal preference. I only own units with non-endless, and I find it better as you know exactly where you are, from one end of the scale to the other. Plus, they have a notch on the knob so it's easier to work it out.
Endless ones look cool if they've got lights (like the Nord Lead 3) 8)
