Whirly and I were pondering...

You can rent a house, a rather large house, complete with food and servants, right on a beach, in various tropical, developing countries, for very very cheap. Like, say, Jamaica, Costa Rica or Cabo San Lucas.

The cost of such a thing, deferred amongst 10 or 12 participants, would be much less than renting a hotel room for a mere weekend in most european cities.

Discuss.

heh. Get 20-25 people, everyone chips in and we hire Tom & Ed to play.

More seriously, I'd be down for a meetup like that.

I took yours, marsh, jeanie and mipps presence as a given.

haha, yeah sounds good to me dude 8).

Let's do Baja California, that'd be like a 10 minute drive for you, whirly & stash, and I wouldn't have to fly. just drive in mexico and get pulled over by cops/bribe them to the point where it would've been cheaper to fly to South Africa..

THere's Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada.... I wouldn't drive down there tho'.... I've been too close to going to a mexican prison before, I don't feel like repeating that experience.

Costa Rica would be wicked! I have heard nothing but good things about it - affordable, beautiful, friendly and hospitable people.

I used to want to go to Jamaica, but after hearing a few too many stories about how sketchy it is there, I don't want to go. From what I heard from some people is that the resorts and anything within a real close proximity are very nice, but the crime is high there and you go to the marketplaces and people are up in your face begging for money and acting very threatening if you don't hand over your wallet. Tourists are easy prey I supose. A friend I used to work with went with his girlfriend and they got a gun pulled on them 3 blocks from the resort when they were walking to town. They spent the rest of their vacation holed up in the resort because they were too scared to check the sites.

Mexico would be cool - it is one of my brother's favorite places to go: friendly people, relatively laid back and easy going, good margaritas, good beer, affordable. I'm thinking one of those white sandy beach type places like in those Corona beer commercials. :-D

Okay, there was a celebration here that we had at work and I've had a number of glasses of champagne, but hey... I fucking think this would be an amazing adventure.

Somewhere in between, not too convenient for anybody but not out of reach for anyone, would be an awesome meet up spot. Trying to convince Tom and Ed to come and perform would be difficult, but I think some sort of arrangement could be made. Stay positive about this--it's going to take a lot of planning.

Love for all of you, and for all of us.

Beware the champagne, for a headache is always ever so close! ;)

I agree, somewhere inbetween. But dang, Costa Rica or Mexico is sounding pretty hot.

Maybe somewhere totally out in the middle of nowhere. Or maybe not - off peak would be a good time to visit most anywhere because the airfare would be less expensive. I have vacation on the brain... You are right this will take a lot of planning. It would be awesome if we could manage to get this off the ground!

There isn't anything in between us all, except maybe the Bahamas or the Canary islands.

South we go!

Honestly, sad as it is, Winnipeg is probably the closest thing to a midway point. Or maybe Bosco's place in Chitown.

Not a place in the middle of nowhere.

The airfares will be huge!

People , are we seriously up for this ?!

Cause i def am!

I will have a look in my world map and come up with some convienient places.

I think its should be tropical , and it should not be ridiculously expensive to get to , and we should all rent a house and a van so we can drive around.

Airfares will be huge anyway , but i am up for paying anything up to a 1000 euro's for a return. I am serious in this people! How cool would it be !!

Timing would be an issue too. For those of us in school, during the summertime or at Christmas would be a must.

Hey what about Thailand? - Thats supposed to be awesome and its cheap as chips over there. I think the only worry is the flights but Im sure if you book in advance you'll be fine. My brother who is a poor student went for a month, said it was amazing and everything was just so cheap. Plus its pretty central for most right?
