Hi there. I joined the forum today, but i've been reading it for a long time. I did not feel like joining unless I had something really important to say, and, well this is the case now.

Here is a remix of Asleep from day I made a year ago :

http://junkyard.spon...mical_dream.mp3

There's a long story behind this tune and I won't bother you with it unless you ask me to, I just thought you might like it. Basically, it starts of slow but builds into psychedelic frenzy just like "the sunshine underground" does.

If you have the time, feeback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Will

PS : I know this is a bit dodgy to post it there, because of the uncleared sample and all, but i can assure you that this file is not shared and that it is more of an homage thant piracy. Basically i decided to post the link when i saw someone posted a link to a Galvanize/Get yourself High mashup.

Yo,

Its good man, i'd like to hear it with a 4/4 kick thru it tho. Round about the 1 min 15-20 mark.

Nice one

I really liked it, too, sounds like you had a nice time making it maybe. I just think it has a nice personal sound to it somehow, and euphoric. Must feel good for you to listen to it especially.

Hey, that's exactly one of things I tell myself when I listen back to it. Basically, I wanted to fix a few things on this track. make it longer, mix it properly (the end is sooo messy), edit the mad sitar drone and analog synth tweaking at the end (those are out of control....), adjust levels, EQs and Pan...

But actually, i finished this version late at night, recorder it to an MD, as an unfinished demo, and, right on the next day, the power went out in my flat due to a deficient electric kettle, and all the samples and sequences in the MPC were lost. forever. You can imagine how i felt. So this is all that is left of this track as I never had the courage to start all over again...

Glad you like it.

Oh, we posted at the same time, I haven't seen this message, well, thanks for the support. I'm almost blushing.

On one hand, yeah, there's a lot of satisfaction when you listen back to something you spent a lot of effort putting together, especially as it was the first "proper" track produced on my hardware setup at that time. On the other hand, as I've mentioned it, every time i listen to this tune I spot tons of things that needed to be worked over, like "uh, the mix need tidying" or "i should have done this insted of that" or "the synth is too loud" or whatever.... So it's kind of frustrating.

I imagine that most of the work the brothers do in the studio is more about suche production decisions than the basic arrangement of the track. They are quite perfectionist, and even when you manage to get everything right, you still think about all the other versions you could have made, if you had done this or turned this part into this one. (which is something, I feel, you do not get when you write rock/pop song where writing is more raw and intuitive - I've played in a "classic" band)

Anyway, I'm just ranting away...

Actually, We (With a friend of mine whom I make music with) managed to give Ed a demo CD including this track at last NYE at Turnmills...

It was rather funny : they had just finished the set, and were walking away, so I switched into "annoying fan" mode and greeted Ed... I think he tried to ignore me, but I added "we came all the way from France to see you", and he seemed more interested, answering with an ellpitic "hum. cool" very Ed-ish, and then I gave him the CD. was a bit of a mission as he was already carrying his sweater, a beer and a case of CDs, but he managed to free a hand to grab it. That was very nice from him (Ed, if you're reading this, thanks again...) I won't dare to imagine that they actually listend to the CD...

Well, later that week I listen to the track again and felt rather ashamed of giving them such an amateurish piece of work.
