It's when they were great (pre US success)- the album's Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call.
Oh man that takes me back. Damn... It makes me remember how much I loved Simple Minds way back when. They were so atmospheric and fluid, haunting. They are one band I shamefully never finished replacing my old worn cassettes with CD's or MP3'd. My brother picked up that Sisters Feelings Call in London when he went to Europe in I think it was 1985, as that record was an import. By the early 90's, Simple Minds were no longer 'it' in the US, but rather remembered for being that band that did that song in that movie Breakfast Club. When I went to England for 3 months in 1991 one of my friends I met while there was from Glasgow and he invited me up to meet his family. His mom was totally in love with Simple Minds, just thought Jim Kerr was God's gracious gift to mankind, and she was just too thrilled to show me her record collection. Ahhhh memories....
Edited: now I am spending my lunch hour tripping down memory lane and youtubing Simple Minds, hahahaha!

The Knife -- "Annie's Box (alt. vocal)"
This is from The Knife's album Tomorrow, In A Year.
It's really great- it has a mix of both beautiful and sonically challenging elements that makes for a real grower.

2 years ? I thought it was from 2010. Not that neu then I think the instrumental is dope, but the german lyrics ruin everything. No offense, but I think German is one of the least beautiful languages to hear in a song.
Anyway, that tune triggered something in my head as soon as I heard it in the ad. Much like Right Here Right Now did more than 10 years ago in the Adidas ad.
EDIT : indeed, it was released in 2009
And, transition ! The most beautiful language to hear in a song in my opinion : brazilian portuguese :

The single was released on August 15th, 1998 - Album on September 26 2008. I Know what you're saying about the german vocals, most of the time they sound not that good, but there are some songs which sounds good with those vocals.

Yes, and yes
As for the Peter Fox tune, I grew very tired of it when I was watching Viva on a regular basis. But very few German artists reach international exposure so this guy must be happy.
