The torches are put away. For now muahahahaha! ;)
There's a difference between the incessant trolling when the album came out, and the people who are geniune. (like you Slipvin, I thought you were a troll and I still feel bad for being so bitchy to you at first) After the Push The Button came out, it just got to be overwhelming and irrational in here, tempers flared - but I think as far as the the new album goes in relation to the forum, people are pretty comfortable with where they stand and things are a lot calmer now. Better for understanding and discussing.

Wow...I'm very late to this thread...
I've been a very casual fan of the Chems for quite a while...I did get dig your own hole when it came out all those years ago...but then I got married, and wasn't allowed to shell out all the bucks on music that I had done as a single man...
anyways...now I'm single again...I get to spend my money on what I want now, so when I found out the Chems and New order were playing a gig in Oakland, I knew I had to go....as I said in the Oakland gig thread, I was absolutely astounded by the Chems show, so when I got back to Austin, I looked for the new (okay, it isn't new by now) disc where I work, but we don't carry it....so I had to wait until I could actually make it to Waterloo Records...and I haven't been able to get the thing out of my CD Player in the car since...it's one of those rare discs that I can put in and listen to the whole thing without skipping a single song..and seeing as I'm a massive fan of New order, the fact that the Chems can keep the new NO disc out of my player is HUGE!!!
I only drive 20 minutes a day round trip to work, so that isn't that big a deal, but when I had to drive to Dallas last week, the disc played the ENTIRE way...and that was only a 3 and a half hour drive....and on the drive back..same thing...
PTB is one of the finest CDs I have ever purchased...I'd heard Galvanize on Pete Tong's show...and heard The Big Jump a time or two before...but the Left Right just absolutely blows my mind...a truer look at the political situation of our world has never been done...and Marvo Ging is just gorgeous...
well...sorry for going on quite so long...hope I haven't bored any of you to tears just yet...

I can't speak for everyone but no no no, you haven't bored me to tears! The longer your post, the more you want to talk, the better imo.
That's very cool to hear how much you enjoy Push The Button (as well as the new New Order, which is really really great btw!) That's always good to hear no matter how new or old a record is.
It's also nice to hear your take on Left Right - if there's one song that's caused quite a controversy in the chemical camp, it's that one. Glad to see there's another person in favor of this tune being on a Chems record.
Looking foward to hearing more of your thoughts in the future - keep em coming!

Hi thieves, nice story you told us here. Good to know you dig the new album. I have to agree on the fact that PTB is another one of those block rockin' albums where skipping a single song during its listen should be severely punished. Also, it's surprising that Left Right was one of your first highlights, since as whirly said, it's quite controversed around here. Anyway it keeps growing on me these days.
And (a late) welcome among us!

I always play all albums from the beggining to the end without skipping. I hate skiping, because the album lost theier climate. All albums are the separate journeys through the amazing landscapes of sound!!!Ofcourse sometimes like to play the apart song for disturbing the neighbours X-D

Well, after a full, loud listen with my girlfriend and a long day, I've come to the conclusion that PTB is a concept album about....... sex.
It starts with a call for action (Galvanizing being a clever euphemism for arousal) that involves beginning with foreplay (pushing the button, anyone?) and getting in the mood (putting apprehension on the backburner). Then, a series of housey-sounding tracks set a steady rhythm, but with enough variety and surprises (not to mention shrieks and screams) to keep it interesting. By 'Close Your Eyes' there is that special moment that often occurs when making love with someone you really care about. 'Marvo Ging' is the time when you're both making a variety of excited noises and it all culminates in 'Surface to Air', a track that is undeniably joyous and ecstatic, yet ends suddenly and abruptly, without a true resolution.
Tom & Ed, this is, without a doubt, your sexiest album to date. Even the acid guitar lick in 'Left Right' is dying to be used in a porn flick. Cheers mates!
