I'm still not dead! Hooray!

Pooter, so sorry to hear about your friend's ex's death. I can't imagine going though that. It's so amazingly intense.

Biff, so sad to hear you can't make it to Olympia, too! My biddy, who I was supposed to go with can't make it either. A combination of his dad's death earlier this year and the suck-ass economy has stunted his income horribly. I honestly am praying -I- can still go. ;_; Considering I got so upset when I missed the show last December, I really don't want to have a redux of that same reaction.

My hit-and-ran car is totaled. It's gone. I am so sad. I loved that Trans Am so much, despite it's gas guzzling. The good news out of all of it is that I got 6200 bucks out of it being totaled! It's about twice as much as I got it for and I'm stoked about that. Hoping to get a bigger, badder, Trans Am. Love those cars for some reason.

Other than that, life is fairly good. The hobby of Super Smash Brawl tournaments is going strong. The community is totally awesome and it's own little world. It's going to be something I stick with for a long time, I can tell.

And! Getting my finances together for college. Going to study how to make video games. It's really exciting! I'm nervous in that can't-wait kinda way. ^^

Dude--score on the cash for the totaled car! That's an amazing silver lining. I'm stoked for you that you're going to study how to make video games. I have one good friend who is going that route, and it's a tough one, actually.

Now you can get yourself a more bad ass Trans Am, Vorpal!

We had an earthquake here not too long ago. The epicenter was about 30 miles away from where I am. I was under my desk faster than I could say Oh Shit! It was pretty strong, we were long overdue for a decent sized quake. I hate being at work when stuff like this happens. Plus all the jammed phone lines were an annoyance. The quake was in Chino Hills which is pretty close to LA, so I hope inchemwetrust is doing all right!

I'm alive!

Yep! It was felt over here too Whirly! The news was saying that it was about 5.4 and was felt all the way to San Diego. I was in a store in Inglewood and someone told me to look up and I saw the ceiling fixtures and the lighting going back and forth. Out of concern, I saw this old lady shopping in the aisle and told her to stay next to me under a doorway. I couldn't even use my cellphone to call any of my family for 45 minutes because T-Mobile sucks. Man, it's been a while being in one of these since the Northridge quake. Mr. Schwarzenegger is on TV while i'm convincing myself to get a Emergency kit just in case the Big One happens! I'm glad your family's OK Whirly and everybody else in our area.

Kind of makes you think what to grab quickly when you leave the house when a earthquake hits!

Hmm! ... Important Documents, My safe, My gun, and piles of Chem CD's :)

It's not just T-Mobile... I think all phone lines were jammed a bit (I have at & t) and I was having trouble trying to dial from my work phone to landlines.

The Northridge quake was insane! It happened so early in the morning, jolted me wide awake shook for over a minute (which feels like an eternity during an earthquake) and the aftershocks were frequent and strong. A friend of my parents' lived in Northridge in this beautiful wood and glass structure and her house was levelled. She was asleep when it hit, and lucky to be alive. She had to walk over all this broken glass and find her way out over rubble and pitch black darkness. She's since rebuilt her home near the same area but she always keeps a pair of shoes and mini earthquake kit next to her bed.

There was also a pretty bad quake that was centered right in LA, - it wasn't the Northridge quake as it was a different fault line, it was in LA... I think it was 92 or 93. There was some damage to some of the older structures, like older homes were affected. Thank god it wasn't a terribly big earthquake or it would've been a complete disaster.

They scare the crap out of me. My husband used to work right in downtown LA, in the business district. It was estimated that if the "big one" hit, the streets would be covered in some 14 ft of broken glass.

No thank you.

Thanks Whirls, Pooter - i can't wait to get a new car, now. Hard not having one, though.

I didn't even hear about the quake that hit down there recently. Glad everyone's ok. I was 5 when the Northridge one hit. Lived in Burbank at the time. I actually slept through it. XD But it shifted the apartment building off of it's base, nearly drained all the pools in the complex and tore up some of the parking lots. Earthquakes are insane, man.

Just posting random thoughts! Been getting lazy! This week is just totally destroying me at work! I hope you guys are toughing it out as we near the weekend.

Olympia is just around the corner and im stuck here trying to figure what i'm going to do on the 30th. I've already had a dream of me being @ Olympia. I was way back in the crowd trying to get to the front and when I got to the railing, the bros left.

Geez! I'm being denied in both the physical world and the dream world!

Hehe...well, I guess we (meaning those of us that aren't going to Olympia) can congregate here and have ourselves a wee pity party. ;) It would be so wicked if there was a webcast for that gig. I mean, this will be the first show of this size for the chems, and since there's always a first for everything... Can't really think of a better "first chems gig webcast ever" event than Olympia.

I guess as long as I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony too!

Oh the pains of life and it being cruel.

While getting a bad ass amount of cashola for a car has been awesome, it's presented a decision that I'm finding rather hard to even THINK about.

We're a bit short handed for Olympia money. So it's come down to:

-Awesome car, sell tickets, have the ability to go visit some online friends across the country for a few weeks.

Or!

-Get less awesome car, go to Olympia, forgo online friend visiting for a while

Argh! So frustrating. Both negatives of either scenario made me shake my fist at the sky. =(

Aw, man--don't focus on what you don't get. Look at it this way: Either way it's going to be an amazing time. :)

I'm really, really hungover today. I had seven or eight Makers & Coke last night, though I can safely say I don't remember how many and it could have been more. One of my friends is a functional alcoholic, which only means that I have to expect to get drunk when we hang out. We hadn't hung out in a while and I don't know that we'll be able to hang out again anytime soon, so last night I decided that since work today was optional, I'd just go for the gusto and call in sick today. It worked out great. :)

We got into an intense debate, though. He was trying to argue that one's intelligence did not rely on the idea that one could show their intelligence or communicate it in some fashion. My counter argument was that a part of the very definition of intelligence was one's ability to communicate or articulate their thought process. It wasn't the most pointless debate I've ever had; I can say that, I suppose.

Anyway, here's love to all you fine Forum folk.

Oh, and Whirls--I'm going to be in San Diego this weekend visiting my son. I don't know that it will be possible to work out a visit, but there's a chance.

Oh, and Biff--I'll probably make it down to Santa Cruz next weekend. You down to hang out? I'll take you out for a drink.

Oh, and VorpalStorm--My best advice to ask yourself if you really need anything more than something to get you from one place to another. If you're a car person and it's something that you're into, go for it. As for me, I'm not, and it's saved me lots of money over the years. ;-) Best of luck to you, man.

Oh, and EarlGrey (a.k.a. InChemWeTrust)--I'm going to keep bothering you about the SMD/Soulwax show until you buy your ticket. If you haven't seen Soulwax, my GOD. www.soulwax.com They're amazing.

Random things going on.

Gotta practice up for a big gig with my band "BlueFox" for August 10th. It won't be our biggest gig ever but it is still going to get us quite a bit of publicity.

On monday it's Pirate Fest!!!!!! Yes!

This video is like just insane! I can't stop laughing at the vocalist! That facial expression is just twisted!

Yeah Whirly! A webcast of sometype of the show would be cool so us international fans won't be empty handed and i'm tempted to open a forum thread on the 30th called 'And for those who couldn't make it'. Haha! I wonder if those that are going would be able to get a good spot in the front cause its just so awesome to show your mug in front of the Chems and see if they notice you of your hyper-jumping and screaming and the hands-in-the-air routine. And be on the lookout for a friend of mine that is doing the 'Flatnose' makeup at the show as he is definitely the good luck charm of the show . That is a tough decision Vorpal, as I would go with the 'less awesome car-go to Olympia' choice because when you come back from the show, you can look at your not-so-awesome car and blame the Chems :) I'm surprised at you Pooter on having these 'drunk debates' and that's cool. But other drinkers might probably take these debates personally and fights would ensue. That makes you a professional drinker to me bro because I can drink and have such conversations or debates without going anal on something I disagree about and start a fight. Speaking of 'drunk debates', there was one going on just the other day in Congress when Dems and Reps went on a 5 week vacation after leaving the decision to combat the rise of gas prices unresolved, and not finding any common ground on comprehensive energy legislation. So far, It's 4.19 at my gas station but it won't be that low for much longer. Prochem! I didn't know you were in a band. What kind of music bro?

Oh and Pooter...since you mentioned it, there's now a 65 percent chance of me going, but your persistence in bugging me to go is working!

Hi laura,

Whirly, funny case while in japan we had an earthquake that freaked out my friend. It was just after midnight and he was all 'WTF'. I just look at him and say, earrthquake.

Hey Laura! =D

And thanks everyone for the input. ^^! I'm currently doing some crazy hard thinking about what kind of car I should go with. I'm about to start school, too, so while I love Trans Ams, they're a high maintenance car and I'm not really sure that'd be a good thing to have on my plate when I'm at school. Plus, if I get something cheaper? Olympia!

In other, more upbeat news, I went to a REALLY huge Super Smash tournament yesterday down in San Francisco. It was well over 100 people and a complete blast. I cosplayed as Ness and got some praise for it. =D It was a two day thing, but my crew doesn't have that much money to work with, so we had to leave after the first day. =( But it was the most fun I've had in a long time and I'd go again if I could.

Wow... Smash Brothers tourney, eh? Not bad.

I had an awesome weekend with my son, and thankfully he's a decent swimmer because he loves to play in the waves at the beach. Shorebreak waves are a bit hazardous for anyone, really, but a five year-old playing in them are definitely a cause for concern. We had a blast, though.

Now I'm back at work and hoping for some overtime, and definitely wishing that I had YouTube access. Somehow I missed someone posting the link to the clip of Sasha & Digweed dropping EBW10. :)
