Oh fuck, i'm so obsessed with flicks of summercase and sneakbeater's video on youtube. Has anyone a clue whether it will be released somehow(maybe a b-side, clip kiss, no need)? ED ED ED ED ? Could you say something about it? I mean, it's so frickin' unusual, trippy and just oooh! The sound of the glitchy synth is more than amazing and sooo typical chems style. Are there some live recording snippets anywhere? Please, I'm dying! But who cares . . .

I heard that voice before...I think it's a sample from this song I can't remember what it was called...I'm gonna look in my library...Anyway, that song might even be one of the b-sides (Clip Kiss or No need)...Even better, imagine if the animal song is one of them...

Not meaning to argue, but I don't understand why it would be a bad thing to have EBW 9 commercially available on cd. And on that note, why people were upset that Saturate is EBW 8. I feel those songs need to be heard and not everyone is tracking the Chems' every move. They are beautifully crafted little tidbits of sonic heaven and if they are available on cd, then it means more power to the people IMO.

I think it's not because he doesn't like the track (I could be wrong though), I assume he rather want's something unheard. Something like an addon to the album. As a fan you never can get enough material. And EBW 9 could be listened to serveral times and you know what it sound like. Am I totally wrong in this diection, prochem?
As for me, they could release a special edition b-sides collection of tracks they've thought that wouldn't fit in WATN's context.
I wonder what happened to these 40 tracks Ed were talking of once??? Can not believe they shelved 20 ideas or more.
ED, I really need to know whether this frickin' tune is about to be released anyhow, anytime, anywhere???? Please, and if it was a particular demand release like TPPR. Give a desperate nerd some hints, please.

I would find the complaint akin to saying that Otter Rock, while kind of a weaker song (sorry, no flames please!) from the back catalog of stuff; was NEW material at the time; thus it rocked to hear something new.
It makes sense... especially as I'm a fan of hearing more and more new things! You can't get enough unheard stuff.

I see what you mean, but I have to respectfully disagree with the point that just because a diehard fan knows what it sounds like because he/she has listened to something ad nauseum, then the song shouldn't have a place on a single for a simple selfish reason other than "well I already know what it sounds like". Don't get me wrong, I totally understand what it's like being a fan and wanting more and more and being selfish (I mean afterall, I did download We Are The Night so kettle - pot, pot -kettle!) But when it comes to the point where extremely limited releases mainly doled out for club and radio play such as EBW's would "suck" if they appeared on a single or album, then that lends itself to a really narrow perspective. There's a bigger picture here. And that picture includes giving other people, other fans, the chance to hear a finished, polished track that they might not have heard otherwise. Let alone owned.
I do think a limited edition bonus disc would be pretty sweet, though!! But maybe in time, somewhere down the road. I'm not going to hold my breath on getting some sort of bonus disc of songs from the We Are The Night generation that didn't make the cut. Anyone remember talk of Push The Button's evil twin that Tom casually mentioned once during an interview that caused a near riot on the forum? ;)
Anyway - who knows. It Began In Afrika was released due to popular demand and that was a pretty cool move and quite gracious at that, as far as I'm concerned. Maybe we will get lucky again sometime.
As for the 40 gems. I wish I were Ed's spokesperson, alas I am not - but it's safe to say that those gems were likely bright ideas coming into fruition, bits and pieces here and there that made their way in some form or another on the album. You can't hold a man to comments like that because he was just saying how things were coming along. Had he come on and said "we have 40 complete songs we are just bursting to share with you!!!!" then that would be a totally different matter altogether! ;)

I agree with you Whirly. I own the EBWs on vinyl, so even I'd be selfish and go on and say that the bsides should be fresh tracks (selfish me wants more!), but having read your post, it seems justified enough to put them on a cd for fans in someway or the other. Even if I was on the other side where I didn't own those 2 tracks (especially 8, and if it hadn't appeared on the album in almost the same avatar), I would have been asking for them. Fair enough. Release another singles collection ed n tom! Churn out more tracks. Ah wait - release the album first!
