Eddy Temple Morriss xfm playlist Feb 2014

I don't think Eddy TM would intentionally mislead.

Yeah, that's actually real!

On an old version of the Chemical Brothers site around 2002-2005 a few low-quality RealPlayer streams of DJ mixes were available, first three were In Glint, Anti Nazi Mix, and Confront Your Demons, and the last one was "toms mix for site". It starts with the Live Forever edit in it and heads into an unknown remix of Bug Powder Dust followed by several other tracks. From what research I've done, the mix was originally broadcast on Radio One in 1995, which makes sense since all the tracks on the mix were released by the end of 1995 that date. I can upload a copy of the "tom's mix for site.flv" for proof, you'll need an old version of RealPlayer to play it.

EDIT: Some additional lineage on the two youtube videos. The two edits on youtube create a confusing mess that is mostly the fault of Eddy TM and the guy who posted this:

This "remix" is a strange one. First heard as far back as 1995 on a BBC Radio One special it made a further appearance on the XFM Superchunk which was played straight after the last Finsbury Park gig in 2002. Nothing was ever mentioned about the mix as I, and I assume everyone else thought it was just a bootleg mix used for radio. That was until EddyTM of XFM's The Remix played the track very recently listed it on his playlist as an unreleased edit by The Chemical Brothers! It may make some sense as around 1995 Noel was hanging around the Superstar DJ's in the making at their club shows and also creating Setting Sun with them! There were also heavy rumors of Wonderwall being remixed by Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons but either the rework never came to fruition or is hidden away in the vaults somewhere!

So above you have a couple of versions in the download. The first being a short 3 minute edit taken from the XFM Superchunk CD-R, the second being a mix of that edit and the actual album version which I have attempted myself and thirdly the version played on XFM on the 7th of February 2014.

So the songs + artwork uploaded to youtube are from a special bootleg this guy made, Edit 1 being a short edit by Eddy TM, who was doing 2002 Superchunk, and Edit 2 being an unintentional recreation of the original long version from "tom's mix" by splicing the full album version in with the edit from Superchunk.

That's a bit confusing but the point is: it first surfaced on a Chemical Brothers DJ mix, and probably is by them. Eddy TM got his copy from "tom's mix" (judging by the slowing down of the vinyl at the end into the next track which hadn't been edited out) and he's been playing it since 2002.

Yeah I read that guy's blog page properly just after I posted these and realised he had tried to extend the thing. I probably should have gone back and removed the longer vid from my post. And indeed it does look as though he mocked up the 'label' himself.

I was about to DL the 2002 Superchunk you linked WN, but then my internet security started flashing red warning signs at me. So you're saying that the version Eddy TM played in 2014 was culled from his own Superchunk from 2002, and there's a longer 'original' version of this Tom edit somewhere. That right? (there is also a 4.26 version on youtube but it sounds very straightforward after the intro).

Pretty much. I'm saying that the 'edit' originally came from Tom and was released in 1995 on that Radio One broadcast of his mix. That was 5 minutes long, the longer 'original' version, and it's freely available on that mix. In 2002 Eddy TM ripped this 'edit' from "toms mix" and shortened down part of it himself so it would fit into his Superchunk mix (which had multiple other Oasis tracks in it, perhaps he was crunched for time). That 4.26 version is the one Eddy TM played on his 2014 show, which is the full version of the track, except that it fades out before the scratch transition at the end.

Still working out how to convert the Realaudio file of "toms mix" to mp3 so you can hear the whole thing. Unless you're in the mood to install old RealPlayer.

Thanks Pum and WN, a nice little Old Skool mix for the ipod.
The track mixed into Trickshot is this:

I have a soft spot for the Lakota mix of this song.

Thanks Pum! Sorry I didn't post "toms mix" when I first found out about it a year ago... but I didn't want to post it until I converted it to mp3 and in the mean time I honestly forgot about it until Skyscraper posted this.

Edit:
Found a recording of the original broadcast:

http://www.mixcloud....vening-session/

It originally was a Steve Lamacq Evening Session mix from 1995.
