Chatting to Skrufff several months ago , Ed said they?ve recently been inspired by Black Strobe?s Ivan Smaghhe, admitting, ?when electroclash started I initially thought this is something that?s not for me but I?ve been on a couple of dance floors recently and thought ?actually this music really works, it?s really good fun, it?s exciting, it?s druggy and it?s doing it?. He also stressed they had no intention of mellowing out in the foreseeable future.
?The new music we?re making is hard and twisted and some of if is melodic but ever since our first EP we?ve been interested in making music that?s soothing and beautiful and ethereal as well as making fucked up hard dance music,? he stressed.
?The idea that we?re toning down and wanting to reach older coffee table markets, when we?re releasing records like Electronic Battle Weapon 6, mental, mental acid groove, is just so wrong-headed,? said Ed.
The Chemicals? imminent return could also cause mild embarrassment to Alexis Petridis? fellow dance-music-is-dead Guardian critic Caroline Sullivan who wrote off the band this summer.
?With the Chemical Brothers apparently defunct and Underworld on extended leave, Basement Jaxx are pretty much the only big 1990s dance act still telling crowds to wave their hands in the air like they just don?t care,? she claimed. The Chemicals headlined Creamfields just two weeks later.

intresting reading about ed liking blackstrobe. i saw them at homelands this summer and they were quite stunning dj's, there mixing was super tight and they weren't shy dropping EBW 6!!!
also nice to read they are not mellowing with their sound. i remember an article just before they started recording 'come with us' saying now they were in their 30's and this could be the last banging album they might make. looks like that was not true. he boys don't you know the your thirties are the new twenties!!! thats what i'm sticking too at least.
and its nice to see where that rummour about the boys splitting up came from, just some pathetic journalism!!

This Blackstrobe sounds interesting - I may have to give it a listen just to hear what's up.
And right you are sneaker, the 30's are the new 20's... but I'll just keep telling myself that too... as my knees pop when I get out of bed each day... when I hobble to the bathroom only to discover a new crease that wasn't there the day before... ;)

you talk a lot of shit acidchild
Maybe i do but can you not respond with something contructed rather than offensive? I disagree with some of your views but not all, even if you dont agree with mine theres no need to say that.
What is wrong with Basement Jaxx? Im not saying there overall better than the Chems cause they are very different. But they are very good and i do not understand why you said this about a good band:
yeah if the basement jaxx are the future of dance then its time for me to sell my decks.
Would you not drop a Jaxx tune in Woking?
What is the future of dance then Sneaker? Are you gonna make a difference? Is Darksessions gonna have a night a turmills or you headline festivals like the Jaxx...........i think not!

There is nothing wrong with having my own opnion. And if i get criticised for voiceing that it is very sad. So beatrobot is it ok for people to say i talk 'shit' and them not expect it back? Maybe i shouldnt of criticised darksessions but i was compareing them to the success of the Jaxx.

There are other good moments on the album, but I have to be in the mood to have abrasive noise shoveled through my ears like a 3 inch wide pole wrapped in sandpaper.

To me there's no comparison to the Jaxx and the Chems - but it's just my opinion. I just think album-wise, the Chems got the Jaxx beat by a mile and a half. They're different kinds of music, different kinds of vibes - that's all there is to it and I just prefer the Chemical Brothers and some people share my opinion - no need to slam our opinions.
I know we all love our Chems and we're defensive about them and other music we love. Maybe it wasn't fair for sneaks to say you talk a lot of shit, but slamming Dark Sessions and claiming it unsuccessful is a load of crap and a hit below the belt. Is he not allowed to have an opinion on the Jaxx, and is Turnmills the end all be all measure of success? Come on.
