instead of the full album being played + greatest hits. That kind of a set makes a picture of The Chemical Brothers like an old, near retirement band,

finally it happened, the stupidest thing ever written on this forum... 6.7.2010

there you go eddy....im afraid its all out in the open now...its time to retire....i mean....two men of your age...carrying on like you do....its embarrasing!

Defined a little more formally, "escape velocity" is the initial speed required to go from an initial point in a gravitational potential field to infinity with a residual velocity of zero, with all speeds and velocities measured with respect to the field

oh and by the way, unless you have a 100 foot led screen in your living room, you've not seen the dvd properly!

They are the Rolling Stones of electronic music but with less drugs and more "love is all". In 10 years they'll drive on stage with their wheelchairs and catheters and... oh wait - thats the job of Kraftwerk.

That's the reason why I wouldn't like those two things to be separated. Further shoudl'nt be isolated from the rest of their discography.

And for example, I'd rather see Escape Velocity live as en epic closer than as a second track. This is my opinion about it, I think EV should close the concerts.

I actually like those ideas Malboul59! I can imagine EV for a closer!

I'm sure T and E will probably take it under some advisement, but we still might not see changes in the setlist. I'm fine on whatever the Chems play!

I think we can blame ourselves for watching the youtube vids for spoiling our own expectations of our show! It's hard not to resist what's going on in another city and another show and see what the playlist is like. Understand that when T and E were making Further, they already had the show in mind from top to bottom. So it will be their judgement whether they'll change the format or playlist.

I admit it when I saw them @ Nocturnal! I saw all the youtube vids and stuff before I went to the show, and I knew I was going to spoil it for myself, and knowing what tracks they were going to play and in what order. But when I got to see them live, It was even better, even though I got a heads up on the setlist. At least the crowd's energy and the stage was more than enough.

I respect the visual and audio direction that the Bros have chosen for this tour, and so far, the only thing I see in this topic mostly is own individual suggestions. And lastly, all of the suggestions and opinions about the 'Further Tour on this forum cannot speak for the others outside this forum, who may have already enjoyed the present 'tour' format already.

I can't belive this thread is still on going, I read it a few weeks ago and laughed!

Maboul, your a idiot, I doubt you've ever seen the Chems as you clearly talk total shit about the amazing live shows!

I like it when I give my opinion and some people respond by calling me an idiot instead of trying to understand my point.
By the way, I already saw the Chems live. The good thing with the show I saw is that they had visuals made just for the show and all the old and new tracks mixed together. That's what I like. I'm sure that if they had played WATN in its entirety with same visuals as for the music videos (DIA, salmon etc...), I would have enjoyed it anyway but not as much as I did.

lease note guys that noone is saying that this set is shit or bad, it's excellent, but it could have been much more epic if they tried to do something similar like in the WATN or CWU tours.

THIS.
Put it in your brain, guys. I tried a lot of time to explain that there's something beween 100 % good and 100 % bad. I didn't say that the show sucked ass, I just said how I'd like it to be. I'm pretty sure that I'll enjoy the show when I see it, whatever they do, cause everything they do is awesome, but I know that I'll enjoy it more is they mix the old and new tracks together.
Actually, the Further part of the show is not really the most problematic one, I think the second part, with old tracks, as it is now, doesn't make much sense. That's the reason why I'd like Further tracks to be played along the old stuff, cause the old stuff part looks like a shortened version of a WATN Tour show.

By the way, I'm pretty sure that if I had sseen the Further show and had been disappointed by it, I would have been yelled at anyway. Just look at the reactions over Rachel's negative review for example...

I think most of us understand your point of view, but I think though this album is pretty well tied to the visuals and the two can be considered a concept album together. I think the only way to make sense of the visuals if they were mixed in with the rest the concert would to still be the album in the same order with songs from previous albums. But I know a lot of people consider performing the album live an interesting concept... and for those who aren't into it, maybe you should chase these bastards down for releasing a live recording of an album that already exists:

They are not especially tied to the visuals on the dvd...

Wasn't this before the release of Further and the visuals, and even before the Roundhouse shows, on one of their DJ sets, when probably the visuals haven't been finished yet?

EDIT: lol, that footage is from 2005....

What I was saying presumes they wouldn't ditch the DVD visuals...Not that they couldn't theoretically make new ones.

The visuals of the DVD are more music videos to me.
(you may want to respond "to you? oh that's what they are so... " but don't...)

In their past live shows, they never used the music videos for the visuals. They always had new ones as far as I know (apart from a little part of The Test).
So I assume there could be new visuals.

I don't think youtube clips or the dvd count as seeing them live! I think your being quite insulting and ignorant to both the dvd and the visuals, does it not occur to you that alot of effort has gone into this by Adam and The Chems?

When/If you bother going to the live show you will also learnt its about a combination of things...

1. The Music - Played and mixed live.
2. The Visuals - On a massive scale.
3. The Showmanship With the Gear - Playing old synths/drum machines, physically doing it.
4. The Lighting/Smoke - Lots of lazers, effects and smoke spraying down at the crowd.
5. The Soundsytem - A massive rig which makes the music feel alive.
6. The Crowd - The hype and reactions.
7. The Magic!

...All of this make up that very special Chemical feeling, that you CANNOT judge on just watching videos.

C'mon already, you still haven't figured out what are we actually discussing about? Not that this is a real discussion.
We're discussing the set list, not the visuals, the showmanship, the effects or any other aspect of a gig. ONLY the set list.
But, i won't even discuss that anymore, let's just let this thread die.

They probably avoid music videos because they're radio edits is my best guess, plus a lot of songs get edited up.

All those things appear in any Chemical concert. My expectations are more concerning the setlist. The tracks they play ! Isn't it one of the most important things ?
The more the setlist fits my expectations, the more I'll enjoy the show. Logic.

Kinda comes down simply to the new songs mingling with the old ones? I mean the songs themselves will be different, especially since they have been at the shows thus far, plus historically speaking there appears to be more layers added to shows as they deepen into a tour (look at watn or ptb, or listen to the tracks).
Anyways, measuring enjoyment directly to things living up to expectations is a dangerous way to look at thinks, what would Epictetus think... If he weren't 2000 years dead... Love the new name btw
