I just read it on planet dust web site. Most of you probably knew it but for me it's new :

"Song To The Siren" was made in Tom's bedroom, on a Hitachi hi-fi, a computer, a S1000 sampler and one keyboard with no effects. In the song they sampled the This Mortal Coil's Song To The Siren and Meat Beat Manifesto. It was released in 500 copies on 12" vinyl through Diamond Records (named after Ed's nickname), their own label. A hardcore act contributed on the other side. Tom would later say "We were taking it around to the dance shops down in London, and everyone said it was too slow and that no-one would play it. People laughed at us! Because it was only 111bpm".

Read this a long while ago. Hahaha! Tom and Ed get the last laugh!

Ask not what your equipment can do for you, but what you can do with your equipment.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Hah, I can't began on how true that is. ;)
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

It depends upon your musical skills such as understanding of the music, creativity and talent and not on the amount of equipment you have.

Here's a little add on to that story:

While Tom and Ed made song to the siren, Ed borrowed money from a friend to press the 500 copies of the original green label. His friend argued for 10% of all future earnings then relented... So let's see so he would've been a millionaire after the release of surrender for doing nothing but lend some cash (probably nothing small), this kinda reminds me of the end of Dumb and Dumber with the hawaiian triopic bus...
