Mexico - Iran was a frantic game in the first half, very entertaining. Just finally watched it on tape delay with friends, and we're all very pleased because Mexico is the official team of our group!

Needed tacos and Mexican beer though. Had to settle for wings and Nova Scotian beer (not the same, I'll tell you).

Tomorrow's my day off, might actually get up at 7 AM to watch Australia - Japan and then just make it nine consecutive hours of football viewing.

Watched Angola vs Portugal last night, Portugal edging past an Angola side who overall did alright, nieve but showed a lot of character. I think the Portugese could have scored more if they wanted to though.

Woooooooooo! Cahill!!!!!!!!

Amazing comeback by the Aussies. Stellar!

I got out of bed around the 75th minute to get up and watch the game and I wasn't disappointed!

Czechs - Americans next. Don't know who I want to win. I like the Czechs a lot, but I have a soft spot for the Americans....

Wow, incredible match between Australia and Japan, great result for the Ozzies!! I thought they were average for most of the game and Japan looked in control but then Cahill struck...

The Japanese will be absolutely kicking themselves, defended solidly for 80 minutes but in the second half missed loads of opportunities, not as much skill going forward as I've seen before from them. The result was pretty harsh I think (they should have had a penalty shortly after the equalising goal) but hey there we go.

Great come back for Australia ! but I had forecasted 0 - 1 so I was pissed off when they scored three times :(

It looked like a France - England or a France - Italy... With a little less suspense

And how!!! Americans are so very predictable in attack. If Koller hadn't been injured, it would've been 5-0 at the least. Disturbingly poor American performance. Solid play by the Czechs but I think even they have room to improve yet.

I was well impressed by the Czechs, USA didn't do too much wrong in my opinion but were outdone by an organised and composed side. There's been quite a few teams in the WC so far that have struggled going forward, but the Czechs knew exactly where the goal was. I can see them going a long way.

Come on chem'd up we all know Italy will score in the first half and then sit on their lead for the rest of the game ;-) - come on Ghana I say!

I am suporting for Ghana! Altough the Ghana's play very aggresive - i'm always cheering for the underdog. It would be nice to see Italy loose from Ghana!

Czechs were very well organized, but they let the USA have too much possession, esp. in the first half. I don't think they can rely on counterattacking on the break against some of the better teams. Still, they were absolutely dominant.

Americans controlled the ball well, dictated the play, but they had absolutely no one who could unlock the Czech defense. Only players I might give a shoutout to for the USA would be Reyna and Johnson, both of whom offered intelligent movement and a bit of pace. Otherwise it looked like one of those all-too-frustrating Liverpool games from the past season: control the ball for 80 minutes, offer no real chance on goal (Reyna's shot off the post aside).

I really hope the Italians don't get an early lead. Catenacchio might be effective, but it's boring as.

Hmm...italy's defence is not as good as you would expect 8O Ghana already had a lot of changes....this two teamss are physically quite equal i think. Good match!

Yeah, everyone tipped the Ghanaians to be strong, but they've been a lot more aggressive and positive than I might have expected. Same goes for Italy: they actually know how to run FORWARDS!! Who knew?

Second half should be decent if Ghana can keep up the pace and don't tire out.

Amazing result for us last night. :relief:

I'd say the tough as nails workouts that Guus has been putting the players under for the last two weeks paid off. AND HOW!

Oh yeah. I couldn't believe Cahill got away with that challenge, just after receiving a yellow. 8O We now have a shitload of players on yellows too. :(

For the first half we had four players playing out of position too, I still don't understand what Guus was doing in that first 45.

I now hope that Brasil beat Croatia so that they don't have to play to win against us. It'll make a slight difference at the very least.

Yeah it was a decent game. Italy put in well, an Italy-like performance against the Ghanians who started well with lightning-quick moves forward in the first 20 minutes. In the second half the Africans kind of petered out, some poor defending and lack of vision up front let them down although Essien did really well. Can't argue with the result though, Italy were the better side - the next two games in this group should be interesting (Ghana vs US, Italy vs Czech).

France - Switzerland today... The swiss are pretentious they said they wanted to win the world cup...

We are gonna make them shut the fuck up, they have no chance, with Czech Rep, Argentina, Holland, Germany, England, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Italy or France...
