Post stuff u still need to check out, the reasons may be any. Some similiar vibe friends raving about the stuff, or u'r slight brush with the music sometime, and somewhere at the back of u'r mind, u have to find time for them sometime.

Forget genres, eras, whatever u've heard a lot bout and would sure like to at least check out fairly sometime. Or u think u may like. Cause most of us here do either have too much music on our hands all the time, or some like me get lesser time than i'd like and lack of drive. whatever.

i'll think of some later, but i wanna hear, before i die, or sometime soon, whichever is earlier.

velvet underground

more primal scream

xtacy

air

spiritualized - lazerguided melodies

new order - at least their peak historical stuff.

the new maiden! wish i could now.

strapping young lad - just to see what the hype's all bout, maybe?

have all the chems singles on lp. n albums. n anything i can get my hands on in this life.

u?

edit : also right now bt comes to mind, as he plays. i've heard most of his album stuff, but i got the double disc rare n remixed album recently, and i'd love to find more of unreleased commercially bt i don't know. he's the godfather alright.

also wanna check out more sasha. i'd heard so much bout him as a live act, but he failed to impress me with songwriting when i heard the new nyc sessions, recently, to hear what all the fuss was bout. maybe he's just a live guy, but i'd like to hear some more stuff sometime to give him a fair try for all the hype he is.

if it's trance, it has to be the godfather. bfuckint. n his school. old school soundscapes n fun trance (WITH breakbeats), not the 250000 bpm crap that goes dhook dhook dhook dhook now in the so called "underground dance music" scene in this electronic musically very challenged country i live in.

On a similiar trancey note, i heard infected's last release i'm the survivor last night, n tho it's back to their old school infected runnin flyin pscyco rave, it still meets the converting vegetarians sound somewhere, n the end result is evolution. n very interesting when tuned out a bit. they'r the only rave act which interests me a bit honestly, i've no idea what rave is today. it's not rave in here.

comin back to infected, they've still got those mushroom grooves all over. now they've officially gone out n claimed them as their sound. signature. official. whether it's vegetarians or non vegeterians.

sorry bout that gettin carried away part, it's just the music really mommy...

Do you mean those gubber and speedcore stuff? Oh man i hate that sound. It's like 1000 pneumatic hammers are beating your head.

What i've got to chekk out someday is any stuff of Lemon Jelly many of you talked about, Cuba, Skeewiff, RJD2, Freddy Fresh, U2, Portishead and so on

i don't know bout speedcore or whatever kinda rave/ trance music is there. i was generally using that 2500bpm term to get the idea across. my bad if i didn't. the only rave i've heard is a bit of infected and shiva shidapu, that was a long time back, that actually was my first exposure to electronic music as i come from a 60's rock, n 80's metal background.

but then one night i heard the chems, n there was no looking back on that rave shit. but that's all the "underground" scene in this country is, or hip hop all over the clubs. i never go clubbing here hence. back in delhi some of my friends are trying to start an electronica scene focusing on big beat/ break beat, let's hope it takes off sometime. i need at least one club that plays my music. i wouldn't even if someone played bt.

by the way, i did check out infected's last album, which is pretty much trance a few days back, since i loved their second last converting vegetarians absolutely, n i did like i am the survivor too, it is rave, but these guys have got their own sound, and grooves that are so infected mushroom n i love.

btw, how often, or how many clubs in u'r respective cities play big beat, or the more chemicalic stuff?

Hmmm...all i know is that here in Amsterdam the scene isn't as good as you would expect. We do have very good nights but comparing to London it's nothing.

Yeah , London is DEF the place to be when it comes to most clubs with great music.

NYC doesn't even come close. Ive been there in total for 8 months and i NEVER!! Had that " WOOOOW THIS IS HEAVEN!!! " feeling in a club or at a party.

Have to eat dinner will continue later!

n yes which reminds me i've gotta check out orbital and underworld too properly sometime.

blue would be a good album to start with, or suggestions? i like big beats n synth.

i did check out lemonjelly sometime back, i kinda liked the singles album, but the subsequent albums didn't do much for me. maybe someday. right now it was too ambient for my taste.

tho i did get some boards of canada, n tho i didn't like it first, i don't mind it early mornings, before crashing, it's chilled out n ambient, my first exposure and liking towards chilled out music. this is music has the right to children.

for orbital, the classic is the brown album but my personal fave is the middle of nowhere (the white album) - its really great, very synthy and beaty.

blue was a bit shit tbh, well i thought so. it was ok, certainly better than the altogether (euugh) but basically - middle of nowhere and before = good everything after is not so good.

I think Blue is pretty good too, except for the easy listening songs 'Easy Serv ' and 'Bath Time', although the latter sounds just like Lemon Jelly. Transient, Lost & You Lot are brilliant!

I cannot recommend Spiritualized 'Lazerguided Melodies' enough. *sigh* one of my favorite albums of all time.

There is a lot of music I still need to check out. My problem is, what my collection lacks is mind boggling. I'm still a bit of old school - I like going into a record store and buying my records. Maybe I'm resistant to hopping on the itunes bandwagon. In short, when I do get a chance to go into a record store, I am at a loss with what to get. It's almost overwhelming. itunes I've found is great for downloading the odd song here and there when I'm thinking, "gee, I haven't heard that in a while, I'd like to hear it again!"

I'm finding that I'm more interested in reconnecting with the music I used to really dig years ago, that whole "everything that's old is suddenly new again" and I'm OK with that. It's been fun listening to satellite radio when I've been out driving with stash... I'm not in a mad rush to discover everything thnat's new and hot right now. I do need to spruce up my music collection, but in my opinion I was always needing to spruce up the ol music collection. These things come in time.

As for club scene? heh - Los Angeles has a weak scene if you ask me. My favorite club has turned into a trace haven which is OK if you like trance. But I'm not big on it so... another one bites the dust. There used to be a great little breaks room off to the side of my favorite club which was great, but the last couple of times I went, they were playing really shitty house and it was so depressing really. Plus, you know - it's a real pain in the butt getting to and from Los Angeles it is hardly worth the night out unless you're with a posse.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

My CD/record collection has largely increased in the past 3 years. I?ve realized that I?ve spent more money on music this year then I have ever?.luckily I work heaps. I?ve recently gone all old skool and I need more Joy division, Velvet Underground, Cabernet Voltaire, Kraftwerk and I?ve gathered a high interest in Afrika Bambaataa (I adore old skool electro).

At the moment I love 2manyDJ mixes although here they are all imports and highly expensive. I think it?s the whole eclectic anything goes type of mixes that attracts me like the chem?s live at the social. If anybody else knows any other artist who?s mixes are like this I would love to know.

I could go on forever about what else I need more of because I?m into too many genre?s and have only little of everyone. I can?t walk into a CD store and just know exactly what I?m looking for?I?ll wonder for ages before I decide on something. I think tomorrow after work I?ll go on an ambient hunt because I?m seriously lacking in that genre.

In Melbourne right now I think commercialisation has turned most clubs all stupid trashy house and you find all the funky breaks/ hip hop/ electro places are either really hard to get into (if you?re a guy that is) are not on that often or venue is just terrible. The breaks night I?ve been following for years has moved I think 5 places in 4 years and right now it?s probably at the worst. The place is too dark, the floor really sticky, and they use curtains to separate rooms. Awful, but hey when your too trashed to care?whatever. Damn Sydney gets most of the dance festivals which sucks. Parklife (breakbeat festival) looks awesome this year but I can?t get up there for the weekend. Revolver in the city is one of my favorite places to go although it gets extremely trashy as it is open for the whole weekend. Other than that there heaps of funky bars that play awesome beats. There aren?t really any big beat places Jack but you probably get the odd eclectic bar that will do a mix. I think Melbourne is quiet the favorite for live shows as I?ve been told.
its a little early but thanks anyway

I thought The Altogether was alright on the whole, only song I don't dig is Shadows (never really got it), but all the others are special in their own way. Not the best album as a whole - meaning it's a bit of a mish-mash of tracks and styles, but I like the tracks on it.

Blue is hit and miss, not the best start. I'd like to say though, that if you don't have In Sides, you can't call yourself a fan of electronica.
