I am DJing for the first time in public (house party lolz) and I'm thinking what I should play after the clock strikes 0:00. I will be playing Auld Lange Sye but then I need a tune after that.

What would you play?

Tss, you should take on-the-fly requests from your public audience...

I'm digging M83's latest album a lot recently, and I'd probably go with Reunion. It makes you jump if that's what you're going for. Or are you gonna you perform in front of a lucky silver agers crowd?

Or do it the Holroyd way. Put in the Monday Surprise mix, hit play and get yourself a glass of champaign.

Skyscraper's pick is pretty cool, but if you're going with Soulwax, their remix of Hey Boy Hey Girl would be right on time.

Alternately, New Order's Ceremony might be cool for an older or less dancey / chill crowd...but only as a back up.

The trouble is I'm playing for daytime Radio 1 listeners (that's a bad thing) so can't play anything too obscure otherwise I'd be chucked out. In this context, by obscure I mean A Tribe Called Quest or Grandmaster Flash. Though if I do play Grandmaster Flash I'll see them recognising it by saying "oh this is from American Pie! Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the edge".

So much hate inside me, maybe I shouldn't DJ. It's going to be a blood bath.

Female Host: "Hey, can you play some Jessie J?"
Iguanapunk: "Do you see this knife?"

Well everyone knows Kylie right?
So keeping it Soulwax, here's TWO of their remixes that might make her more bearable...

play something everyone can sing to

Talking Heads - Road to Nowhere

Madness - Our House

Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger

Basically key in on older popular songs that have been forgotten about. It's a cheap way of making you look like a genius in front of casual musical listeners.

Otherwise, rather than pandering to the crowd, you could be bold and play tracks you actually like. It's high risk, but could pay off.

Ha ha ha. Krystal your having all the luck with crowds.
Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.
