So this should be a very very interesting DVD when it hits the shops

I'm sure I going to buy it.

If your talking about the directors series dvd its been out for a while now, along with spike jonze and chris cunningham. i bought the chris cunningham one and because i absolutely love his work and his taste in music. The dvd is class and i really want the michelle gondry one because his videos are so original such as "fell in love with a girl" by the white stripes, its a brill vid i dont know if anyone here has seen it.

Bought the Chris Cunningham one over the weekend. The All Is Full Of Love video is still breathtakingly cool. And the song... the song is beautiful.

Next stop will be the Spike Jonze one, then Michel Gondry - or maybe the other way around. To the best of my knowledge they are going to release more of these dvd's with other directors in them. I don't know which directors though...

Thor - yes, the movie is out and it's called Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's written by Charlie Kaufman, the same person who wrote Being John Malkovich. Eternal Sunshine is brilliant, very weird and a real trip -I won't give too much away but for simplicity's sake, it takes place inside the subconscious, or, the memory. It's hard to explain and must be seen. Don't be swayed by Jim Carey's past, he is excellent in it and his character is so well acted, you instantly forget that you're watching Jim Carey.

@yoshimi89

NO I was talking about Anton Corbijn his DVD.

I read on his site he is choosing his music videos right now.

@C-row (about Herbert Grnemeyer)

I'll ask a German friend this afternoon.

She studies together with my girlfriend in Nijmegen near the German border.

So I'll ask her if she has a record of him.

So I can have a listen.

This would be the one with Lego™©(etc.)s? It's a nice video. Can't figure out how they actually did it. I mean, they didn't actually construct those figures brick by brick, did they? (CG perhaps?)

Another thing. From all the channels in the world, I get the German VIVA by a satellite here. They have a program called Fast Forward there, I bet c-Row (and others too) know what I'm talking about. Seems like a decent show. Well, anyhow, in one episode they were talking about those director's dvds by Gondry and Jonze and they showed many videos from both directors. Which was nice. :)

In fact it's the ONLY show on Viva worth watching. Charlotte is quite weird. :D

That video is amazing! Really cool underwater effect going on. I wish I could've been a fly on the wall for the production of that, it would be interesting to see how they filmed it, pieced it all together and edited it.

The woman from Portishead (the name escapes me, and I'm too lazy to search right now) is really shy I understand. In particular, camera shy. I haven't seen any other Portishead videos, then again I don't watch that many these days because all I have is MTV not MTV2, and I was quite surprised to see her in the viddy for Only You.

i think michael gondry and pierre bissmuth also shared writing credits for the movie. (bissmuth helped gondry film his documentary 'i've been 12 forever')

i loved the movie but i thought the video was kinda cheapy, which is sad cause i just saw the polyphonic spree in concert and it was one of the most original musical acts ive ever seen. i can only describe it as watching a sort of hare-krishna orchestra-rock concert. check out their 'polyphonic player' at www.thepolyphonicspree.com to see a video of 'light & day' with some concert footage. perhaps the video was cheap because it takes a lot of $$ to support 18+ people in a relatively unknown band. :D

@azurefaith: Yes great band: Polyphonic spree.

It's a bit weird if you see them live in action.

But they can play their instruments.

It was one of the best gigs I've been too last year(2003)!!!!

I did a search for her. She looks quite similar, but there is no link between her and Setting Sun.

IT is definetly her, I checked imdb on her but to no luck, but was watching the singles dvd and I remembered that she starred in randall and hopkirk.

heh. There was some special on tv (forget which channel, I think it must've been local) about the Polyphonic Spree a couple weeks ago. They definitely growing on me. I picked up their record not too long ago pretty much for the song Light and Day and because I read some rather weird reviews. And let's face it, their collective persona is... cult-like and intriguing! X-D According to the sleeve, they describe themselves as a "choral symphonic pop band" and that is spot on. So far, I have to say the tracks have a samey sort of feel but I think what they were going for is epic so that might be why the songs have that samey quality to them. All in all the songs are constructed rather well with some good harmonizing and there's some unusual instruments from moogs to tympanies to harp and even a theramin. There are some definite Beach Boys and even Beatles influences in there. I like the tracks with the exception of the final song called "A Long Day." Shit, it just goes on and on and on and on and on for like, 36 minutes. I'm not joking. 36 minutes of... randomness that just lost me.
