Hello to all you lucky people who went to the Manc gig last night.
If you took any photos, could you please post them here for the benefit of those of us that didn't take their camera or phone, like me. :(
If you didn't take any pics, then write a review.
They came on well after 10.00 and kicked in with "Hey Boy, Hey Girl" with plenty of help from the audience singing along! From then on, they kicked ass except for some long breaks when nothing happened at all, leaving everyone hanging. (!) The lasers and screen show were as excellent as expected, and I especially liked the spinning dolphin statue film.
The audience responded throughout in a typically for Manchester warm & energetic manner, and respect to the two girls on my left in red top and Chinese dress for their wicked dancing!
Only criticism could be that the lads never said anything to the audience, just waved a couple of times. :?
OK, over to you guys - what have you got to say or show.... ->

They arnt the best pictures in the world
But they give you a glimpse of what it was like
That spinning dolphin was surreal as me and a mate of mine went LDN for a trip and our hotel was nxt to that fountain and we spent one night just chillin nxt to the fountain!
I loved the whole trip aspect of the visuals being taking around graveyards
And the robots!
black and white robots= Cool
red robots = very cool
spinning red robots walking towards you = Mad

FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!
And that was just the warm up djs first session...
I thought the secret machines were ok, a lot of guitar noise coming from two guitars and a synthesizer that didn't make any noise!
Thought it was funny around 10 o clock when the crowd grew impatient, everytime there was a breakdown on one of the DJs tracks you could hear loads of whistling. There was also this dude at the front of the balcony who kept getting up and dancing, and there was girl sat in the row in front of us who kept getting up as well (think she was taking the piss out of him) .
Anyway, the DJ finished his set and on came blue strobe lights criss-crossing the stage accompanied by some weird music which went on for about 5 minutes (does this music always play?), eventually Tom and Ed came on, the crowd went mad and on came Hey boy hey girl. Everybody on the balcony got on their feet and most stayed like that till the end of the show (including me ). Next up was Get yourself high, followed by The big jump which is awesome live. I think the track afterwards was Galvanize which also went down well, next up I think was music:response, followed by Leave home, I'm afraid I can't remember the exact tracklist for the show, can anyone who was there confirm?
The first half was finished off by Temptation / Star guitar, which as we all know is amazing. Tom and Ed then started playing the low Kraftwerk-esque beginning to Surface to air, there were still people talking until the guitars came in (don't they realised what track it was!). A few tracks later The golden path came in, which sounds different live and Believe, which totally convinced me about liking the song. Acid children came in as well, seemed to go down well with the whole crowd! The big build up at the end was cool. Can't remember what the track at the end was, but when the music stopped, everyone stayed ~ we all knew what track they hadn't dropped yet!!
Suddenly the words 'Hold tight Manchester' appeared on the screen and a very different version of HTL came on, it was mainly the bass for the first few minutes but then it erupted into the full article with Anna's voice, aaahhh etc. The whole track lasted about 10 minutes, brilliant version - would love to have it on CD. It then went quiet again and TPPR started and everyone was really up for it, and went the beat dropped it was incredible, right to the very end, especially when it 'breaked' and the drums were dropped back in again.
Great crowd, brilliant night, well worth the wait. My mate who came with me didn't know around half of the tracks and he said at the end it was incredible - as for me I couldn't say anything!
Cheers Tom and Ed!!!

Not a bad nite at all!!
Just afew downers (sorry)
It seems an age for them to get on stage, leading me to think of problems on the stage. As afew times through the gig alot of breakdowns ending with nothin!! seemed like Tom was having trouble with the equipment alot of the time. probley just me being crazy.
and then ed's random walks around the stage, humm.
Also the manchester crowd had alot of dickheads crashing all over the place and not very considerate, fair enuff its to expected upto some point, but it just ruins some moments, maybe i should of moved back abit more.
Not really a fan of the Venue, not a great sound is generated. I felt this when The Prodigy played, comparing to when they playing brummie academy the sound is alot more well round (at brummie) insted of just being loud.
anyway
All in all good performance and i had a good nite, worth the 20 i paid for the ticket!!

Last night was possibly the greatest night of my life!
Had to fight with the ticket touts outside just to swap seated tickets for standing without being charged 50, but settled it at 15 plus my original tickets....It was to be the best 15 spent in a long time! Got inside to see the lights dimming for band Secret Machine- or something and they were really good with their effects and speeding riffs, however i felt that the audience weren't really captivated, but eager to see what they had paid their money for. Can't remember how long exactly in between as went to drop before the Bro's came on, but the screams and clapping soon paved the way for the lad's entrance to the stage. The motor speeding effect that they used before the bass of Hey Boy/girl was amazing and sounding like they were winding themselves up before the real tunes!
Not good wiv order of songs as i was too happy to care but the bouncing of 'believe' really created an intense and ecstasy fuelled mood, wiv the crowd punching the air but not one another! Everyone in the first 6 rows seemed 'garied' giving esch other room to dance and passing the glasses of water back soundly. The chems got the intensity just right before lowering the madness back into a chilled mood with 'surface to air', however the best and most upsetting song had to be the finale, which led myself at least 6 times to believe it had ended before kicking back in with so much ferosity i thought my feet were gonna drop off!
Hope every1 had as good a nite as i did! Was in front centre- 2/3 rows back in whitish shirt. Had a good laugh wiv some other madheads trying to control their mate up front!

I have to disagree with the guy who thinks the Apollo isn't a good venue - apart from the problems with the bar I think it's a cracker - much better than when I last saw the Chems there a good 5 or so years ago, after the release of Dig your Own Hole.
Saturday night - what I remember of it - was truly awesome - these boys never fail to impress me and live up to the massive expectations I have. Having seen them in various types of Venue - Blackpool Empress Ballroom, Glastonbury Pyramid Stage, Manc Academy to name a few, I can easily say that the Apollo is very capable of holding its own for these boys. The crowd too was spot on. And those sensible and lucky people who carried the night on up to Sankey's (myself obviously included), experienced the same atmosphere for another 3 hours courtesy of Plump DJs.
WHAT A FKIN BRILLIANT NIGHT.
And now I hear Basement Jaxx are playing Apollo June 18th too, I'll be there, and Sankeys again for sure.

Totally agree with chimifreere on every count. The Apollo is one of my favourite UK venues - I haven't seen one single crap gig there, from the Pixies in 1990 through to the Chems last Friday. It has superb acoustics and
Sorry, I can't remember enough of the set now to write a full review, other than they came on very late (10pm) kicked off with Hey Boy Hey Girl, played most of the best tracks from Push The Button, had stupendous visuals and lasers. The whole set lasted two hours but it felt more like 30 minutes, I'm sure you can work out why. X-D
And yes, we moved on to Sankey's like most people and had a wicked time. Is Sankey's normally as good as that on Fridays or was it all the Chems fans (and I saw loads of you there) who made it special?
