I tried talking to these french dudes on Xbox Live today.. it went pretty good.. I told them bad things like

Suces mon zizi and stuf :P

But i tried my best in talking to them like trying to actually properly communicate..

But when im giving a challenge like this, its not that i get all nervous but it seams as if all my french vocab is just deleted or something.

I dont know what to say.. is this like a natural effect when your learning a new langauge ?

Anyway, we played a few games together and i couldnt say anything stradegic cause i didnt know what they were in french :P

I hate my friend!!! I hate their narrow minded view of music anyways. "If it has'nt guitars and lead singer on stage it's not worth a listen!" It's like that, all the time when I try to introduce the chem's to most of my friends. A couple of days ago a friend of mine borrowed (after some persuade from my side :P) the chem's Live DVD and the singles album. And today he went like: it sounds so strange, bla bla, that ain't skill just sitting behind a mixer on stage, bla bla... I'm so dissapointed in 'em sometimes. Well iactually it's more bad for them, missing SOOO much great music just because it's different then what most ppl are used too...

That's exactly what's it like for me, I mean I dig most of they're music too (mostly indie and punk), but they don't like electronic music at all. It's a bit annoying as it means I never get to go to proper dance music clubs (not that cheese crap). Still, I get over it by having a good stereo system and dancing around my room X-D

I try to be as opened minded about music as i can, but sometimes i just cant listen to bogus stuff. ( that i dont like )

But i know what you mean, alot of my friends are like that, for example a guy in my class said KISS were shite, some1 lent him a DVD and he came in with a completely different attitude about them. I said to him, you shouldnt have said jack about them cause now your made out to look like a dick :/

Anyway, about the friends. Alot of mine are opened minded about music. But i just hate whenever i mention a group and they say something like '' theyre crap'' and i ask what songs theyve heard and they say like one song..

:D well i guess most of us makes some grammatical misstakes sometimes :P And they're so common that we don't even notice 'em :P

- There is nothing wrong about not liking a type of music, that's OK. But to do so you have to do more then just to listen at one track, and not listen if you know what i mean... A lot of music that i Looove now, felt to strange to me at first, but after listening to it some more i've learned to love it... The annoying thing is when ppl are to narrow minded to even try u know.

One of the things I'm going to miss about working in a record store was the conversations I'd have with my coworkers about music.

There's lots of people I work with who are into different things, but over time given the environment, they are exposed to more and more. They might not grow to love different types of music but maybe over time they can understand it a little better, not be so judgmental. There's just so much to get into and to be a true head, a real music expert who knows everything there is to possibly know - someone who's reached that level of pure music enlightenment - it's just an impossible dream really. It boggles the mind because there is so much music out there, so many avenues that would take a dozen lifetimes to explore. There's so much I haven't gotten into yet because there haven't been enough hours in the day or days in the month or months in the year, yet the years slipped by and I still found myself working in a damn record store and being unable to get into it all. There's still shit I don't listen to because sometimes I can't help my own prejudices, or simply, it sounds like garbage spilled into my ears, or I just got caught up in other types of music.

Bah. I'm babbling.

Anyway, back the the point I think I was trying to make. I don't think it's always because they are closeminded why people are particular about liking one type of music and hating another. I think it's because for some reason or another, they might have their preconceived notions on what they *think* they should be listening to. Or maybe it's just a combination of naivity or lack of understanding about how some music connects with people.

It's interesting to talk to people that don't like a particular type of music because if it's a discussion worth having, they'll explain why that is and maybe you might be able to see their point of view. And in return, they can see where you're coming from. And everyone lives happily ever after with a greater understanding of one another and all that hippie bullshit. ;)

A lot of times it's really hard not to say something sucks prematurely, and never hold a grudge against certain types of music. What you hate now you might be loving in a few years' time. Or what meant the world to you a decade ago might be sitting on your shelf collecting dust right now.

I'll stop now.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

I love the fact that people are waking up and getting ready for work, school, etc. and checking the forum in Europe while I'm staying up way late to finish homework. What an odd concept.

Yeah, class starts at 8:30 and it's taught by the dean of the faculty. I'm trying hard not to test his patience!
