i thought this forum needed a topic about the mostly awesome french acts like Justice, Boys Noize, Digitalism, Vitalic, Daft Punk, Cassius, Mr. Oizo etc.

personally, I'm very fond of cross by Justice. this album just rocks. also oi oi oi from boys noize is awesome. i'm not sure what to think about his latest work "power" maybe it needs some more time.

digitalism has some pretty good and pretty bad tracks. about 50% is really awesome and the other 50% i definitely hate. there are no "mêh" tracks :)

Mr. Oizo has made nothing worth listening after analog worms attack (correct me if i'm wrong)

i haven't heard much of Cassius lately but the old stuff still stands his ground.

looking forward to your opinions/reviews!

I used to think that I liked Justice but then a friend told me I didn't actually like them...I was baffled for a moment and he said "what you actually enjoy is the remixes" and I thought about this, and he was right! Justice do have some great tracks here and there but on the whole they're just ok.

Genesis is the only track I can listen to all the way through with out ever skipping it...

I like the 'Let there be light' use of the intro drums in Tom n Ed's sets, and DVNO is pop at it's best...oh, and of course their biggest remix of all...but yeah, it is mainly the remixes...

Pogo and Jupiter Room for Digitalism, so lot's of ground to make up if this movement is to be taken seriously.

For me, British Electronic acts, have and always will reign supreme, long live The Chems, Underworld, Orbital, The Prodg etc...

My life is a boat, being blown by you. With nothing ahead, just the deepest blue... To me you're like a setting sun. You rise then you're gone.

BTW: boys noize & digitalism = german act's.

think justice's cross was a masterpiece like digitalism's idealism.

for boys noize: liked oioioi even more than power (=stagnation on a very high level).

seems like the british dance act's are for the stadiums instead of the clubbiesque german act's...

i kind of lost Oizo after analog worms attack but i think i found him back!

german you say? but they sound so french :P

personally I'm from holland which has a big shortage of chemical beats :/ everyone listens to Trance.. FAKE Trance! real trance was cool: Eat Static, Infected Mushroom etc. but nowadays it's all about Tiesto and Armin van Buuren.

Dutch acts that are worth listening to are Legowelt, Orge Electronique, C-mon and Kypsky, Kraak en Smaak and Seymour Bits.

I just listened Planisphere from Justice again, it really is a masterpiece!

@VMan: try again to listen to Phantom pt. 2 or the soulwax version. it's a truthly epic piece of music!

I didn't like Mr. Oizo's Lamb's Anger on first listen, but I do dig a number of tracks off of it after hearing it in other albums. "It Takes Two" and "Gay Dentist" were great moments in The Twelves' recent essential mix. I'm inclined to check out more, and see what works in my sets.

I dig Justice, but I hate their attitude. They've made some great tracks, but in the end I love others' remixes of their original music, e.g., Soulwax's remix of "Phantom Pt. II" and MSTRKRFT's remix of "D.A.N.C.E.", as well as Justice's remix of others' music, e.g., their remix of MGMT's "Electric Feel."

Daft Punk is amazing.

Vitalic rocks my world--once again, had an amazing time at his show the other week, nothing but positive vibes.

I haven't heard too much from Boyz Noise to get me into them, and I'm just starting to give Digitalism a listen.

about daft punk: i recently played "burnin" from daft punk and the crowd went crazy! this track has some sort of drive that works well to get the crowd going.

the Twelves where a great suprise indeed! i've listened to their essential mix and they surely got it.

Boys Noize and Digitalism are German ! Not French ! (I know it has alreeady been said but I want it to be clear)

BTW, Vitalic kicks ass. And don't forget about Laurent Garnier !

If you like hardcore, you may want to check some of our artists like Laurent Hô, Micropoint, Manu Le Malin (I mean the frenchcore scene).

Digitalism & Boys Noize are, indeed, German. I stand corrected.

My craving for french house music lasted about 6 months. I cant stand much of it now. Yeah, there is a hit now and then, but I don't approve of some of the attention some of these artists receive.

I approve of Vitalic, Mr. Oizo (for the most part), and an early Daft Punk, though.

I used to think Para One could be something great, but then I saw him DJ....

Vitalic doesn't make house actually. It's more a kind of electro-techno which is way better than house IMO.

And, again, don't forget about Laurent Garnier ! http://www.youtube.c...h?v=-xMcAVrbH2I

(Boys Noize and Digitalism are still German by the way)

also love lamb anger (gay dentist, positif). didn't know that micronauts are french either.

you can clearly hear the revolutionary potential of 1789 in the sound of the frenchman. nice stuff from le grand nation. rock on.

btw: boys noize and digitalism are still german. ;)

@eis t: my last visits in amsterdam also where full of cheesy trance and rnb when i was in the clubs. need some underground tipps for my next visit in amsterdam this summer....

The Micronauts were originally a french and a canadian, but the canadian left the band. Despite that, the french guy (Christophe Monier) still uses the name The Micronauts.

The only good thing I know from Amsterdam is the famous label Mokum Records. Generally, I don't like dutch hardcore cause it's mainly mainstream gabber but some labels like Mokum also released real hardcore tracks.
